This is my full time gig however I do have a side business that I work on from home when I can. there are 2-3 small, calm older dogs that are in my care throughout the week as well as one big guy who is super loving and gentle with the little ones. Please note that I am only accepting small breeds at this time. My Miniature Pinscher is an elder who enjoys the calmer, smaller bunch so unfortunately larger breeds are no longer a match, however there is always an exception to the rule ie:seniors.

Safety, trust & environment
I have a large apartment with a yard which provides access to a pee station for urgent matters but walks to several close by parks or patches of grass are a must multiple times a day. We go on one big walk a day and have several outings close by to accommodate the more frequent urinators.

Information Cheryl B. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know what your dogs favourite snacks are, if they have any allergies, any health conditions, training time (if necessary) and what their favourite activities are so I can accommodate them to the best of my abilities whilst they’re in my care. Do they have a tendency to go for garbage bins? waste on the ground? do they scavenge for potentially harmful street snacks? Do they chew things they are not supposed to? Any habits they may have that I should look out for? Do they lunge at other dogs on walks? Every single bit of information helps me do my job so please don’t hesitate to inform me of any tiny thing that may seem insignificant at the time.
A typical day
I like to spend my time with your pet doing the fun activities that they love to do, so please inform me on what those activities are so I can best accommodate your beloved furry one. If your dog likes going for hikes, we will drive up to their favourite spots. Your pup enjoys running around in a larger fenced off leash park? We will drive there! The Seawall and dog beach is close by to my place, however I do not feel comfortable letting your companion off leash unless I know it is 110% guaranteed that they will come back to me. There are a variable amount of factors that can go into what a pet may prioritize over their pet sitter (squirrels, rabbits, other dogs, etc) so I’d feel more comfortable playing it safe with fully fenced areas of off leash is your pet’s preference. I also like to play ball, chase, tug of war, etc. but I’m happy to let your dog rest if they’re a senior that would much rather snuggle up on the sofa. I’m also happy to provide training techniques and games that enrich their minds and keep their brains stimulated. If your pet is happy, I’m happy.

Your Best Friend’s Best Friend
Pet care experience
I’ve been blessed with an abundance of pet care experience for most of my life, and simply put, I love dogs and dogs love me. It’s been proven time and time again. I’ve always grown up with dogs so naturally I’ve wanted to always have at least one in my abode at all times. I started caring for my family members dogs when they would take a vacation as they saw how good I was with my own, and that led to taking care of friends pets and has progressed to caring for pets from strangers at the dog park. And from there I started fostering, and volunteering to walk shelter dogs whilst away on my vacations to which Cesil could not tag along. I’ve loved every animal that has come into my life, whether it be my own, a previous foster or the companion of a friend or family member, but it wasn’t until my little sidekick Cesil had come into my life that I have acquired a deep understanding of anxious pets and how their needs vary drastically from that of their confident counterparts. I’ve developed a knack for understanding how to care for each pet according to their needs, and taking extra time and patience with the anxious ones and the senior dogs. Each pet is unique in their personality and needs, and it is important to me to build trust first and foremost. Keeping pets safe and loved is privilege that I’ve rightfully earned throughout my life, and understanding their body language and communication is crucial in building long lasting relationships with each and every pet along the way. They’re all so lovely and bring so much joy and love to the table. I have ample experience from training puppies to senior dogs. Safety is my number one priority.

Reviews

Cheryl has been incredibly patient with our anxious fur baby and has been attentive to her needs. She is great with dogs, she has a sweet personality, and I will rebook her on a regular basis

I have booked Cheryl several times now and have nothing but amazing things to say. She’s so good with my little guy and super accommodating!

Cheryl is the best!! My dog can be nervous and jumpy around new people and dogs but he loves Cheryl and Cecil and had the best time with them. She sent me tons of pictures and updates which made me feel at ease while I was out of town :)

My pups always have the best time with Cheryl and Cecil! They’ll be back very soon, thank you so much!
