Reliable, Responsible Pet Sitter

Hello! I'm Charlie I've been working for over 15 years taking care of children and on occasion, pets. I'm hoping to add more animals to my life as I am finishing my RN-BSN, the stress relief and excuse to get outside that furry friends offer is immeasurable! I have over 10 years of experience caring for dogs as an occasional sitter/walker and home co-habitant and have had a wonderful feisty cat for over 14 years. (She stays at home unless otherwise specified) I have the most experience with middle aged to older dogs, and manage to win over even the most tentative of furry family members. (I'm also shy, so I attribute it to mutual awkwardness.) I have experience giving eye drops, disguising medication's as treats (or convincing stubbon animals to take medication) and I am experienced in giving injections. I'm more comfortable and experienced with medium and larger dogs , cats of all sizes and temperaments (but i will not turn down the opportunity to make a small dog, bunny, scaley or feathered friend!) . I've experienced some mischievous puppy antics that have led to my finding out that I can keep level headed in an emergency. As I mentioned above, I work in childcare, so I have experience performing work unsupervised in other peoples' homes, am a nurse working on my BSN (so background checks are no issue) and can provide necessary references if requested to ensure my trustworthiness. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have about me and my experience. Thank you.

Pets

Safety, trust & environment

I usually housesit In a client's home while they are away, but am open to drop-ins. I try and follow a furry friend's routine as closely as possible and if I can't on a day, I make sure that they always get enough potty breaks and adjust walks accordingly. I do tend to take the longest walks in the AM (30-45 min) + before bed (30-1 hr) with shorter 15-30 min "potty" walks during the day . I take into account their needs (feeding/medication/b&b evacuation times) & normal excursion times and my schedule and plan the week out in advance. Written instructions help me with daily tasks or pet personality quirks if they are more set in their ways. I'm happy to water plants, gather mail, take out trash and am comfortable communicating with vendors (repair, pest control etc) if they need to visit when you are away. I treat the home better than I treat my own and aim to maintain (or exceed) the level of cleanliness that existed when I arrived. I'm not shy when it comes to vacuuming, laundering linens & pet bedding as needed while I am staying.

Charlie was amazing! She took excellent care of my pets and let me know how everything was going. My dog looked so happy in the pictures and not stressed like she has been when I’ve been gone in the past. My cats actually played! I have two cats that are not very friendly or playful but the pictures showed them playing! It was awesome. I highly recommend her if you are looking for someone to take wonderful care of your critters!

Charlene is an extremely competent dog sitter who we trust without reservation. She has been our dog sitter for several years for our German Shepherd and Pitbull mix. Our dogs require reminders to maintain good behavior and have some quirks and we trust that Charlene always helps them to be their best. Charlene is skilled with animals of all kinds, has great communication skills, and is reliable in all ways.

I'd love to know about a dogs temperament and habits before sitting for them. I think it's important to stick with familiar routines when you are just getting to know an animal and I would be curious about favourite walking routes/activities. Dogs, like all people, have personality quirks and I'd love to know them.
