Mental and Physical Exercise here!

I was an active Rover sitter from 2017-2022 before going on an extended leave. My partner and I have decided to lightly reopen (0-2 stays per month) our home for dogsitting clients because I miss it. If folks are interested in a housesitter and live closer to Edina, my partner Ryan is available for housesitting. He can only housesit for clients with dogs who can handle a standard work day alone. I have a broad experience with many different types of dogs. Since I was young, my family always took in strays and rehomes and it's something that I have continued with as I grew up. I have experience both owning and watching small dogs, large dogs, high energy (border collies and heelers), low energy, high work drive (malinios), anxious, reactive, confident, and multiple dogs. I also have experience managing multiple dog households in which one dog was dog aggressive/reactive. I state this since I know what it's like to try and get a sitter for the "problem child" of the household. I believe dogs are happier when they have a job and love working to find out what dogs enjoy doing! Some dogs enjoy using their nose, others enjoy climbing and jumping on things, some dogs like trick training and some dogs enjoy chasing the ball! But at the end of the night, all dogs like some cuddles and sleep. I currently have multiple dogs that are active in various dog sports, dog training, and walking (slowly getting back into running after an injury). I do not have a fully fenced yard but I also don't ever use my yard as a way of exercise, the yard is purely to go potty or to lay down in while I work outside. Your dog will always be on leash when going potty even if it's below freezing. I am a big believer that there's rarely bad weather just bad gear, your dog will get outside most days with me or at the very least some one-on-one time to play, train, or mental/physical exercise every day. Ryan has experience with anxious and high energy dogs but prefers dogs who enjoy cuddling and long meandering walks.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Ashley is Incredible! Ashley watched our French Bulldog, Blue Bell, for 5 days, and she was absolutely wonderful! Frenchies definitely come with their own unique quirks and big personalities, but Ashley didn't skip a beat. She completely embraced Blue Bell's quirkiness and made sure she felt comfortable, happy, and loved the entire time. It is such a relief to find a sitter who truly understands and appreciates your dog's individual personality. Ashley is a genuine dog lover—reliable, attentive, and is very knowledgeable about different types of dogs. We will absolutely be using her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for top-tier care!

Ashley provided terrific care of my dog, Lucy, and was very communicative and helpful to me before and during Lucy's stay. Lucy got to stay and play with Ashley's dogs, but Ashley was attentive to introducing them in a way that allowed them all to acclimate to each other. Ashley provided good care and outdoor time for Lucy, and was attentive to a raw paw pad that came up just before her stay. She tried some new training tricks with Lucy and I'm looking forward to learning more about those and getting them myself! Thanks for the great peace of mind and the good care you provided Lucy! We hope we'll be able to work with you again!

Ashley was incredible. Our puppy is a little high maintenance around other dogs and also has a very hard time being left alone. Ashley accommodated those needs readily and cheerfully. We were a little nervous leaving our puppy for such a long time but Ashley's confidence and frequent updates put our minds at ease instantly. She clearly knows a lot about dog personalties and training techniques and even sent a picture of her partner snuggling on the ground with our pup! Ashley was very responsive and and we were able to enjoy our vacation knowing that our dog was in good hands. We would definitely use her again!

Ashley is a responsible and smart pet sitter. Teo learned to behave and socialize with dogs. She sent pictures almost every day during the 2 weeks Teo stayed. Teo was happy with her and her dogs. I recommend Ashley to my family and friends for pet sitting.

Have used Ashley a few times now to take care of Scoot. She is great at getting her out on walks and always comes home happy and, most importantly, tired. Not to mention the great pics of Scoot we get while in Ashley’s care.

Schedule

Currently, I am available all day to care for Rover clients. I do have training commitments for Search and Rescue on Saturday mornings but your dog will be exercised either by Ryan during that time or exercised by me afterwards.

Where your pet will stay

Home characteristics

Lives in a house
Has an unfenced yard
Non-smoking household
Has 3 dogs
No children present
Dogs not allowed on bed
Dogs allowed on furniture
Potty breaks every 4-8 hours

Safety, trust & environment

Clients have their own separate room (my home office) for bedtime and when dogs need to be separated (calm time, feeding, needing to be left, etc). I do not require crating but strongly prefer to take on clients who crate their pups due to poor experiences of client dog’s shredding door frames. If your dog isn’t crate trained, we may have a conversation beforehand about a plan of action if your dog does destroy things when left alone.

Pets

A typical day

Depending on the time of the year, dog, and owner's preference I am comfortable with a variety of activities. I am willing to walk or run your dog, play fetch, visit dog-friendly places, and even hike/backpack with your dog. I also have a variety of mental games to adequate exercise your dogs mind: from scent hunting to pulling (canicross or weight pulling) to trick training. I am also willing to learn anything new that you might use with your dog, learning about dog training is a strong interest of mine. If your dog is dog reactive, I also have no problem exercising your dog separately from mine.
