I work full-time from home with an approximate schedule of 7:30am 3:30pm; however, can accommodate most requests despite the time of day. I have 2 dogs, a cat, 3 rabbits (2 are permanent family members and one is a year long bunny sitting setup for someone), and 3 rats so animal care is the center of my universe all day every day.

I care for pets depending on their individual needs. When meeting pet parents, I ask questions about specific preferences and abide by that with intent to minimize the change of an animal’s normal routine and respect them as individuals. Regardless of what is needed, care requests have never been problematic for me…including less “glamorous” needs/requirements.

I am open to all scenarios, but would appreciate prior knowledge of any special needs an animal has (medical, behavioral, etc.). I prefer having this information up front so I can accommodate the animal and avoid having the unknown potentially creating stress for them. I have no breed or species preferences.

I firmly believe activities need to be catered to each individual animal depending on their personality, etc., however walks and fresh air always seems to do any dog good. I prefer being in nature on trails or hiking verses city walking / sidewalks, but am open to either scenario. Alternatively, I can gladly play fetch with a pup for an extended period of time. Their happiness and exercise are of top priority! Nose games such as hiding treats are also fun! It's rather enjoyable watching the wheels turning in a dog's mind while they work through the 'puzzle' of where the treat is located. This all also holds true for any species (with the exception of the fresh air and sunshine…that of course may not be in their best interest for obvious reasons ?).

I have 10 years experience with dogs in the home (2 currently). I love to play with dogs in the way they find most entertaining (fetch, walks, tug, nose games, etc.). I have experience with dogs up to 125 lbs., but all sizes are good to me! I have experience with pups who are not friendly with other dogs. Positive reinforcement is better than negative responses to undesired behavior...treats have always worked well for me, but I understand some dogs are unique and working with their needs / preferences is what is most important. A stimulated and enriched dog is a happy dog! While I wish no dog to experience any bad treatment, I do have a soft spot in my heart for those with a rough past who require a little extra TLC. Both of my dogs came from neglectful and abusive pasts and I understand that going slowly and being patient to gain a dogs trust is essential! I also have experience with cats and small animals! I am a volunteer at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter working with small animals and dogs. If you needed drop in visits for other critters outside of canines, I can help there too! :) I do work full- time during the week in Herndon (generally 7:30AM - 3:30PM). If a morning drop in visit is needed, I would be able to do so around the 6:30AM - 7AM timeframe and could follow up in the afternoon if needed.

We never come home disappointed after Ashley cares for our Rippie! She takes such good care of him while we’re gone!
Ashley did a great job, and I will definitely get her to cat sit again. This is our best experiment. Cats enjoyed her to!! She sent to a message every day to let us know how everything was going and uh, I would definitely recommend her to everybody!!
