I have had my current dog for 15 years! He is a senior, so I have experience with the aging bodies of pups. He is deaf and I have sat for a pup who was blind and deaf in the past. I am experienced with fear related reactivity. I am also educated on dog body language, so I am able to create a respectful, compassionate bond with every pet. I use positive reinforcement; I will not punish your pets. I redirect and focus on the behaviors I want to see from them (such as a loose lead, confidence, etc.). Your pet's comfort, health, and confidence are my priority.

Safety, trust & environment
Safety is incredibly important. I am always attentive to your pets' health, their behavior, and anything they could possibly get into (like "human food" on walks). I will message you if I notice anything abnormal such as excessive sneezing or strong reactivity towards others. I submit Rover cards every visit/walk and give more details in the notes. You will always know what I am up to with your pets! Trust is incredibly important if I am providing services for you while you are away. I avoid interaction with other humans and pets while I am caring for yours, especially if your pet is a new friend of mine. Learning their cues is important and is best done one-on-one (unless requested otherwise).
Ratings and reviews
Alyssa has been incredibly helpful! She was very quick in responding to my last-minute request, even over Thanksgiving. She made time to meet and interact with my large, reactive dog before I was gone for a few days. Alyssa is very comfortable with different behaviors which put my mind at ease. She has a calming presence and is very patient with my pup through different triggers.She updated me routinely was very willing to work with my continuously changing schedule. I’d highly recommend Alyssa to anyone looking for pet care and I’m excited to have found her for future help :)
I had a very disappointing experience. The sitter claimed my dog “growled,” but the video clearly shows he didn’t. My dog doesn’t growl at anyone — not even the completely unknown team who transported him from Mexico to the U.S. I explained during the meet-and-greet that he sits on chair because it’s his favorite spot and that the cue word “vamos” is all he needs to get up and go for a walk. I never asked her to open the back door, and the video shows she only tried once or twice to put on his harness and leash. My dog has had many caretakers throughout his life, and no one has ever had trouble walking him. I asked her to call or video call me if she had issues, but she chose to text while I was at a dinner. Another concern was the lack of flexibility. She said she wouldn’t come unless payment went through immediately and only through the platform. She also didn’t arrive at the time requested, and any extra time or transportation delays are something she should factor into her own fee, not something to bring up afterward. The agreement was simply to feed my dog and take him for a short walk. Unfortunately, the experience did not reflect reliability or professionalism.
She is very Sweet and my dog loved her right away. She have me some advise regarding his crwacked paws regarding his allergies.

It's always a bit scary to leave your pet with someone new but Ginger loved Alyssa right away. Alyssa was also very aware of Ginger being a bit anxious and let Ginger come to her. I feel much better knowing my sweet dog is taken care of.
Alyssa is fantastic to work with and Stella loves her. I broke my foot and she has been coming to take Stella out to walk and play so she gets her exercise since I cannot give her that right now. Alyssa is easy going and was flexible (within reason) of my schedule which made the whole thing stress-free.

Schedule
I am primarily a caregiver (of humans and pets) at home, so my schedule is typically open. I prefer late mornings to early afternoons to take care of your pets, but I am adaptable. I am sure we can work out a schedule that works for everyone :) I am willing to travel outside my service radius. $10 each day of service will be added for a travel fee. $8 will be added onto that for each additional visit per day.

- Please let me know if there are any specific needs including medicine, behavioral triggers (such as people, moving objects, other animals, etc.), and behaviors (such as excessive barking, excessive pulling, separation anxiety, excessive chewing) that I need to account for. PLEASE NOTE, these types of behaviors are NOT disqualifying for care. I am accepting of dogs that may need more effort. There are no breeds I do or do not prefer, though I have more experience with smaller dogs. It is helpful if I receive this information in the initial message, especially any allergies or anxiety your pet may have.
