Your fur baby is our Priority!

Hi, I am Alexia, a big animal lover, as well as an aspiring farmer, potter and plant lover! I moved back to Vancouver Island after studying Environmental Horticulture in Santa Barbara, California. I am thrilled to be back on the island where I grew up. I have extensive experience with animals particularly dogs, cats, horses & goats. My mom Shelley & I share in caring for our Golden’s along with any other fur babies that we are looking after; we both ensure special attention & love are given to all our furry friends while they are away from their owners. Our home is on a 1/2 acre located in private neighbourhood of San Pareil, steps from Rathtrevor Provincial Park, the beach, Englishman River and many forest/river trails for exercise. Shelley has done dog healing/ therapy work with those who suffer with anxiety, loneliness & recovering from health challenges who may need a friendly greeting of tail wag or a kiss with the help of our Golden’s. We are a good team with big hearts & soft spots for our furry friends that come to stay or just visit for the day. We are both comfortable and happy around all ages & breeds of dogs; our goal is for your fur baby to feel equally comfortable and happy around us. We both enjoy hiking and running around in nature, especially joined by a furry friend or two; daily we go exploring the abundant nature on Vancouver Island. We can’t wait to meet & care for your pet(s). Our Golden’s are super happy & content playing with new friends. We have separate spaces for our visiting senior furry friends who prefer a more peaceful stay. Otherwise, lots of open space to run and play for our younger more active visitors. Many beds available too. Can't wait to have your pet(s) as our guest(s). *Please check our rates before reaching out as they reflect the level & high quality of care we provide, which creates seamless transitions from your home to ours, in addition to offering guests organic treats, we also can accommodate all needs, offering many specialized spaces for various guest ages/ or energy levels; from quiet places to a 1/2 acre to play. We do everything in our power to ensure your fur baby is happy & loved with an entire family sharing their hearts & arms /or laps with guests. We will follow any/all routines to also ensure seamless transactions. We offer premium pet care services in a warm and inviting environment to create laid-back luxury for all our furry guests.

Thank you to Alexia and her family for making Sonny's stay such a great experience. We felt at ease from the moment Sonny stepped into your yard and knew she was with a dog family who understood the one-on-one needs of a senior pet. She really looked like one of the family with all the photos, and extended our holiday with the comfort of knowing she was in good hands. It's a really special place for dogs and would highly recommend Alexia and her family for creating such a welcoming environment. I jokingly call it "Sonny's country club" as that's what it felt like. Thank you so much!

Alexia and her mom Shelley were absolutely amazing! My partner and I were visiting the island and wanted to do a whale watching trip. We knew we didn’t want to leave our dogs in the RV and decided to try to find someone to watch them. We thought it would be a long shot with such short notice and it being on a Sunday but began calling around. After reaching out to quite a few daycares in Nanaimo and Parksville and being told they were full I decided to try using Rover for the first time. I was super nervous but found Alexia and read the reviews and decided to message her. Alexia responded almost immediately and agreed to take both of our dogs for the following day. I asked Alexia a million questions and was worried about the heat wave and she answered everything with no issues and made me feel confident that the dogs would be in good hands. We dropped the dogs off the next day and were greeted by Shelley who was very kind. Shelley showed us where the dogs would be staying and we shared a few details with her as both our dogs had minor ailments at the time. After we left and were on the tour we received many pictures of our dogs from Alexia that were absolutely stunning and she provided us updates on their well being. We enjoyed our tour and weren’t worried at all. When we picked the dogs up you could tell they had a great time and despite the heat they didn’t seem too hot at all. Shelley even let us know that our one dog might have a bladder infection which helped confirm our suspicions we had as well. If we ever return to the island we would definitely reach out to Alexia again if we needed to have our dogs looked after.

My Spinger Spaniel, Quinn, was 16 months old the day she spent with Shelley, Alexia and their Golden Retrievers. It was Quinn's first time away from me and it could not have gone any better! I received fabulous pictures and video of my Quinn hiking and swimming with her new friends. I believe Shelley and Alexia sincerely fell in love with Quinn and gave her the best of their time, care, energy and attention. I don't have one blink of hesitation recommending this as your dog's second home!

Alexia and her family were amazing. Always quick to respond to text messages, kind and welcoming, and very knowledgeable about animals. Their property is beautiful and very secure, located on a quiet street with lots of room for animals outside. The wonderful care they provided for Lucy allowed us to have a stress free first Christmas with our son!
