answered a question How do I cancel a request ?

If you are an owner:

There isn’t a way to ‘Archive’ a request, nor delete it. The only way right now is that a request that has NOT been booked will naturally archive 2 days after the requested dates have passed. You can adjust your dates so the request will archive sooner.

If you are a sitter:

If you would like to archive a request that has been sitting in your pending box, you can login to your Rover Account

You can click this link to get to your inbox:

https://www.rover.com/account/inbox/

Here are your 'Pending Requests' Find your desired conversation On the right of the conversation, you should see and click ‘Archive’ You will be asked to select a reason then click ‘Save’ A message will pop up ‘Success Your Conversation has been Archived’ then click ‘Okay’ The message should now be in the ‘Archived Request’

Here is a link as well:

https://support.rover.com/hc/en-us/ar...

If you are using the APP:

Open the APP and Click ‘Triple Line Icon’ upper left and Select ‘Pending’ Click desired conversation and click ‘Square with Arrow’ in upper right Select a reason and will go to ‘Archived’ box

answered a question Should I neuter my dog?

It is the owner's decision whether or not you should neuter your dog.

It is generally recommended, if you are planning to breed then no, if not than yes but not recommended. Neutering tends to reduce many behavioral issues such as: roaming, aggression, or marking.

The process of neutering is not invasion and does not take long

Pros about Neutering: reduces aggressive behavior, can't impregnate un-spayed females, helps prevent health effects like testicular cancer, helps control the pet population

Cons about Neutering: can't reproduce, increase risk of obesity, hypothyroidism, geriatric dementia, and other illnesses,

Neutering age of male dogs is typically between 6 to 18 months.

answered a question What should I do if my dog has dry skin?

Dry skin for dogs are commonly caused from a nutrient deficiency, some dog foods are heated up to a temperature that fatty acids are no longer active, over or under bathing, dry climate or forced air, under-grooming, even neutering/spaying, yeast, skin infection, allergies,

You can help by:

Adding fish oil (fatty acids) to your dog's diet can help combat dry skin. Supplementation of omega-3 Use a natural shampoo containing Colloidal Oatmeal and Colloidal Oatmeal Creme Rinse Dogs need to be groomed regularly to get rid of that dead skin and fur A humidifier will help to stop your pup's skin (and yours) from drying out

answered a question Is pedigree a good dog food?

No! If given long term, pedigree can make dogs more prone to liver or kidney problems.

The first ingredient in this dog food is corn, corn is generally a filler. The second ingredient is poultry by-product meal, which is dried product from a slaughterhouse. Poultry by-products is slightly lower in quality then other meat by-products. The third ingredient is corn gluten meal. Gluten is the rubbery residue remaining once corn has had most of its starchy carbohydrate washed out of it. There are other fillers and ingredients that are not easily digestible.

The ingredients list of a dog food is the main thing I would look at. Start from the beginning to the end, is the largest amount of that ingredient.

I would recommend staying away from colored foods.

I would recommend better quality foods such as: Royal Canin, Science diet, Acana, Newman's Own, Organix, Natural Balance, Taste of the Wild, Wellness, Canidae

answered a question What do I if my dog has worms?

There are several different dewormers you can purchase over-the-counter, but you need to identify what type of worm they are. You will be able to see the worms but can not see the eggs with your naked eye. Identification is generally confirmed with a microscope view of the egg. If your dog is a hunter and eat dead animals, your dog may have tapeworms, you may see white 'Rice' in the poop. Dogs that eat feces can get round worms as well as other worms. The best thing to do is to see your vet to confirm the identification of worm, give the proper dewormer, if there are no worms, then your vet can diagnose the matter

answered a question What can I give my dog for pain?

You must talk to your Veterinarian before giving any over-the-counter meds. They can cause adverse reactions, need proper dose safe for dogs, or have reactions against other meds.

Even as a Veterinary Technologist, I would not be allowed to prescribe a medication. Usually a Vet will say over-the-counter medications called NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) are the first line of pain relief for pets. Ibuprofen, aspirin and naproxen are the most commonly known.

From a vet, they normal prescribe pain meds such as: Rimadryl, Carprofen,

Tylenol poisoning in dogs

Most meds can be harmful to the kidneys and/or liver, so annual blood work is generally recommended.

Signs: Mostly vocal even though dogs tend to try to hide their pain, depression, behavioral change, decrease activity levels, decrease appetite, panting more

commented answer is the background check mandatory for working with rover?

Passing a background check is required for all new sitters/ walkers signing up for Rover. Back in the day Rover used to only require this for "traveling sitters" (sitters who go to the owner's home to care for pets). Then, Rover changed this requirement to all sitters signing up. required YES

answered a question Why is my dog eating rocks?

Dogs may eat rocks due to an underlying medical condition such as: intestinal tract disorders, nutritional deficiency, diabetes, or other illnesses. May even be caused from anxiety, boredom, or frustrations.

Eating rocks can be damaging to the dogs teeth, mouth, and intestines. May require surgery. If you notice any vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, set your vet. You dog may need x rays and potentially surgery if the vet is unable to clear the rocks.

Try to redirect the dogs attention by playing walking, fun activities, chews/toys

answered a question Can my dog catch my cold?

Although there are several zoonotic disease humans can transmit to dogs and vice versa, cold is not one of them. Dogs get viruses from each other. But a cat can catch cold or flu from you.

answered a question Is my dog fat? How can you tell?

BCS (body condition score) is a way to visually evaluate your dog’s body composition and rate it on a numerical scale. There are two scales that can be used - one that rates dogs from 1 to 5 and one that rates dogs from 1 to 9. To score your dog’s body condition, you need to perform a visual examination of the dog from the side and from above, as well as palpate the dog’s ribs and waist. When you look at your dog from above, you should be able to see a clear waist. If you place your hands so that your thumbs are near the spine and your fingers are behind your dog’s last rib, you should easily see that the waist is thinner than the ribs and goes out slightly at the pelvis.

You can adjust your pups weight by increasing or decreasing food portions, adjusting exercise

answered a question Is it okay for my dog to eat dirt?

It is unlikely or rare for dogs to become ill from eating dirt, there can be chemicals within dirt that can be potentially harmful. Some dogs do it from boredom, may like the taste, obsessive-compulsive disorder, mental problems, which developed from painful past experiences, or due to a genetically inherited behavioral problem, minor mineral or vitamin deficiency, gastric upset or irritation, or even smelling some food scrap on the ground, inflammatory bowel disease or hypothyroidism,

answered a question What to do with an aggressive guest dog?

Hello

I would recommend talking to Rover directly, reaching out to the owner, and you being the only person to handle the pup. I would separate the dog from the others at all times and never let outside unattended. Even if the pup was doing well at the meet and greet, fear aggression does occur in some dogs. Move slowly, find what the dog loves, and let the dog come to you.

answered a question How should you take care of a German Shepherd?

German Shepherds are work dogs and love to be please. Training, commands, exercise, is important. Shepherds are great family dogs and protectors so it is important to bring your shepherd around other people and animals.

Shepherds need a way to keep cool, especially long-haired shepherds, teach tricks and obedience, feed a good quality food, brush at least 2-3 a week, bathe, but not too much you don't want to disrupt the natural oils of the skin, annual vet clinics, brush teeth and clip nails, and love your shepherd

answered a question What's the best German Shepherd brush?

Hello

Some great recommended brushes to use on your German Shepherd are DakPets Deshedding Brush, Hair Hero Dog Brush, FURminator Dual Sided Brush, or PawsPamper Undercoat Rake.

NO! Please do not use visine on your dog. Visine is Tetrahydrozoline HCl and it works by constricting the blood vessels in the eye.

answered a question How far should I walk my dog?

Hello

Generally the average dog in good health should be able to easily tolerate a 30-minute walk daily. More active dogs can tolerate as much as 60 minutes. An older dog or a breed may be better served with a 15- or 20-minute walk. It really depends on your pup and observe him/her behavior.

answered a question How can I help my dog gain weight?

Hello

If you would like to help your dog gain weight, you can add an extra meal each day, increase the amount of food you give, be sure the pet food is of good qualify, add Non-fat, no salt chicken broth, beef broth or vegetable broth, canned tuna, non-fat cottage cheese, non-fat plain yogurt, or plain canned pumpkin, add water to diet, gradually change diet to a high calorie diet (puppy food), supplements, less exercise.

If your pup already doesn't eat much nor exercise much, I would talk to your vet about thyroid testing. Usually the thyroid in dogs make them gain weight, but not every time.

answered a question Why is my dog so clingy?

Dogs that are 'clingy' may have separation anxiety. Sudden onset can be health related, change of schedule, not enough attention, stress, fear, old age, 'heat' You can introduce other dogs and people to your pup regularly so doesn't become only overly attached to you.

answered a question How do I stop my dog from digging?

There are several things you can try, if your dog is digging by a fence to get out, you can bury chicken wire 6-12 inches down, throw and bury rock in the holes,

Some dogs may dig when left alone in the yard for long periods of time, for entertainment, young pup with too much energy and not receiving the proper exercise, certain breed dogs (Terrier),

You can take training classes, positive and negative reinforcement, bury the common holes with poop and/or rocks, commands,

answered a question Why does my dog yawn so much?

Dogs may yawn for many reasons. Could be a calming signal, stress/nervous signal, or anticipating something joyful like going for a walk

answered a question Why does my dog eat my underwear?

Hello

This is a common situation. Your dog finds your scent comforting so your underwear is a good source of your scent.

You can:

Put your underwear away to the dog can't get to them Give toys/chews Some dogs will overgrow the behavior

I would recommend keeping a close eye on your dog after eating your underwear. Fabric is not good for their GI tract. Hopefully it will pass without seeing a vet. Normally a vet will do x rays and potentially surgery
