answered a question What do I call my business name?

I use Amanda Jo of Rover. It identifies me from the rest but still makes it clear I'm with Rover.

commented question What if my sitter won't give me back my house key?

Contact Rover's support team. They will get a hold of her and possibly remove her account, or at least get your money back if it's after a stay. Hopefully threats of those actions will make her get back to you.

commented answer Are Meet & Greets necessary for repeat clients?

Thank you! I was thinking along those lines too. I just wanted to confirm that that is a good plan.

asked a question Are Meet & Greets necessary for repeat clients?

A lot of my clients will just hire me on any time after the initial stay and leave the key somewhere for me outside the home. They don't request another Meet&Greet. I'm not necessarily complaining. I don't mind this at all. But is it typically in the best nature for the dog to do the Meet&Greet again? Is this something I should be suggesting for EVERY stay, even repeat clients?

commented answer What do I do if I was paid Adult dog price for Puppy price?

Thank you! And to be honest, I wouldn't have confronted the client at all. I was more curious as to if there is a way for me to ask Rover that my "first dog" rate only be for adult dogs if there are puppies involved. I feel that if Rover asks me if I charge a different rate for puppies, they should also have a way to make sure that adult dogs are charged the primary adult dog rate. I don't blame the client whatsoever and I would never ask them to pay me more after the fact.

asked a question What do I do if I was paid Adult dog price for Puppy price?

I have my "First dog " rate a little bit higher than the "additional dog" rate and my "Puppy under 1 Yr" rate is the same as the "first dog". I recently sat for a client who had 3 dogs, one of which was a puppy. The puppy I sat was listed as the first dog rather than one of the adults So both adult dogs were listed as additional dogs. I feel that an adult dog should have been listed first because my puppy rate is different than the additional dog rate. Am I right in assuming that I got ripped off a little and how should I approach the situation to have it rectified if I am right?

EDITI would not confront the owner at all. They probably had no clue what was going on. I was wondering if there was a way to ask Rover that my "first dog" rate only be for adult dogs if there are puppies AND adults involved.

asked a question How do i cancel the Protection Plan subscription?

How do I cancel my subscription for the Rover Protection Plan so that I don't get charged the renewal ext year. I like the idea of the protection plan, but I feel that it's not something I would have to continue doing. I just don't think it's worth $50 a year for what you get.

commented answer How long should a meet-and-greet last?

The stay is for about a week. 1-1 1/2 hours, I thought was reasonable, because she also had reptiles that need special care, but after that, it just got drawn out and I felt that we were just sitting their for too long without much production. At least she said she was willing to pay me for my time for a second m&g.

asked a question How long should a meet-and-greet last?

I recently had a meet-and-greet that lasted almost two hours, and it was mostly just us the owner trying to figure out any possible question to ask. When I tried to wrap it up, she would hurry and come up with one more thing. Now she wants to meet again, and I'm not sure if there's a way to tell her politely that it's time for me to leave when she starts running out of relevant questions. I don't want this to turn into a two hour awkward moment again.

answered a question Why do people dock dogs tails?

Today, tail docking is more cosmetic than anything. Breeds like dobermans, German shorthairs, and other dogs where the breed standard has docked tails, it's just to get the classic look. It can be used for practical use still, like hunting and herding, but that's not very common. I have an English pointer that has broken his tail so many times, that getting it docked might have been better for him, but on the other hand, my German shorthair had a botched docking and now the fur won't grow over where it was docked. It's completely owner preference at this point.

answered a question Rat Terriers

My grandma has an overweight rat terrier that sheds up a storm. She now keeps her couches covered with blankets so the dog can sit on them. She is somewhat bossy to larger dogs, but very sweet to people and children. She's also a picky eater, but that might be a unique trait, not necessarily applicable to all rat terriers.
