How should i handle a cat not listed?

Hi guys, i was wondering what i should do in this situation. Pet parent only listed two dogs because theyre the only pets she wants me to care for but she has a cat she left out. She said the cat doesnt need any care just make sure she doesnt go outside. What should i do, charge her? Ask her to list the cat but ill keep thr price she wants? I dont mind doing it but it feels kinda dishonest and if something does happen to cat it wasnt technically listed and i still feel like its my responsibility

Jennie, your instincts are correct. If something should happen to the cat, you would be held responsible for it. By telling you to make sure the cat doesn't get out, the owner is in effect directing you to take care of the cat. Unless the cat was kept in a cage (something I am not advocating), the cat needs to be listed and a fee charged. You can determine what is appropriate but IMO your fees are pretty low.

Agree that the cat should be listed. If you will not be responsible for cleaning up after the cat at all, (considering that you will be booking two dogs), you could offer a middle ground solution of charging it at your rates for Additional Cat. To achieve that, you may need to enter a -$ cost adjustment.

I am also struggling with the exact same thing. The day of the lady tells me to feed the cat once a day and clean the litter box. I am missing out on money since the sitting job is 10 days and she did not post the cat but only the dog. I don’t want to come across as to aggressive and need suggestions on how to handle the situation.

You are not being aggressive by requiring payment for an unlisted animal. We are sitters, we love animals, but hey, this is also our livelihood…and she was being dishonest. If you already agreed to it, I’m not sure of outcome..reach out to Rover support. They have always been good to me.
