Boarding costs vs Day Care Costs various scenarios- How do you bill the owner?

Hi everyone,

I need some help. I am a little confused. Hmmm. I decided to charge $38 night for boarding. I also decided to charge $38 a day for daycare. Not sure if this is good or not- I am just getting started.

My confusion: A prospective owner booked 1 over night fort $38.00. She will bring her dog on Monday at 9 AM and pick up on Tuesday at 6 PM. Rover automatically computed 1 night x $38.00.

BUT, if another owner does day care on Monday and returns again on Tuesday, She will be billed $38 x 2 days= $76.00.

I am being paid less to board and keep the dog longer than I am if someone does day care. How do I remedy this? Please advise! Thank you.

Pat,

Have you read the answers to your other question that both Deb and I responded to? If you would, then you would see that the first scenario, where a dog is booked for one night of boarding, with pickup apparently at 6 pm the next day, would pay for one night of boarding plus one of daycare, which would be the same amount as your second scenario, albeit the dogs will have spent different amount of time in your home.

You cannot look at it with an hourly perspective because the dog who boarded slept for at least 8 hours and you didn't need to provide any hands-on care during the night. With daycare, you need to supervise, play and walk the pets. Moreover, in the pet care biz, looking at the implied per hour rate for boarding/daycare would be too depressing.

Hi Pat, I have the same scenario happening with an upcoming stay. The dog will be dropped at 7 am on the 19th and picked up at 730pm on the 21st. That is 2 whole nights and 1 whole day. Rover only charged for the 2-night stay. How do I get the pay for the whole day on the 21st?

That bugs me too. If I have the dog all day before 6pm, then that should count as daycare on top of boarding fees
