Report sitter says he uses you to get clients then establishes clientele. He wanted me to pay him cash. OK with me cause will not use him again and he can pay you the fee.?

Your people in this part of the country are really not the most honest people. I might as well hire someone off the street. I am a senior and people love to take advantage of our singularity. And a female. I am 77 years old and the victim of theft more than I can explain in this one page. Your sitters are not different than the average panhandler on the corner. Need to find a better way than get their drivers license. Cannot report them to the police since cannot PROVE it except I know what I had, and what is gone. Give me any tset you want as I am perfectly intact mentally but disabled with neuropathy, which givens them the impression I am an easy mark. I have neuropathy in my feet going up above my ankles and take pain medicine. Forgot to take the med pack with me last time I went out and now I will not have enough until my next appointment with my doctor. His name was Roger, and have his license if it has not been lifted. He was 66 and former government worker. Said on his profile that he has several returns but told me he had just started???? So what reliability is there on their profiles. Cash removed from under my mattress, guy had left hand unusable due to palsy and the money belt I put under the mattress was now on the side of my mattress under the sheet. There was at least $300 missing, 3 $100 bills and about 4 twenties. Roger also got into my food, my vitamins, and my oxycodone tucked inside a bag that was inside a bag. So he was looking thoroughly for what he could take. I am missing a top that was in my closet, had two of the poly shirts to layer for warmth, one left. He cut me short on time saying he had told another person he would sit for her dog when he agreed to stay here so I could complete my tasks, after doctor appointment. He was sure in a rush to get out of the house and now I know why. Dog gets anxiety when alone. Dog name is "Cloe" he said he found under Rover and now sits on his own meter with another dog he has picked up. f you find a Roger you referred to me. I had him twice week before last and paid him total of $70 so tell him how much he owes you. Did not give you my debit card as needed to know if I had a sitter I could continue to use and trust. He came with a fat burrito which he shoved into his mouth while he was getting paid, his breakfast, a fat slob with a horrible history of past rejection. Can see why now. My dogs did not like him and Rose, my 7 lb Yorkie put herself between me and the door to block ... (more)

I'm very disappointed to read about the previous people who violated your trust. Rover sitters are independent contractors and an online background check is conducted. That's why it's so important for each pet parent to try to assess the person they're hiring, because it's likely nobody from the company ever spent much time with them in person. Although you've certainly experienced dishonest people completely lacking ethics and love for dogs, I sincerely believe that many (if not most) pet sitters truly would have provided more & better care than what you wanted, as many truly love dogs and want them to enjoy the best stay-cation, would not be searching your home to steal from you and wouldn't use your home inappropriately.

Anyone you find on Rover who want you to pay them cash or some other way other than through Rover is an Automatic Red Flag. That already means they want to commit fraud, lie and lack ethics because that is a violation of the terms of service. Any pet parent and sitter or walker that find each other through Rover Must book through Rover. To do otherwise cuts Rover out of their percentage for connecting the parties and it also prevents Rover from withholding payment from a sitter or walker who didn't perform their assignment and-or any further punitive action (including possible account suspension or removal so other pet parents don't use them too). The way Rover is set up to work is you provide credit or debit information to Rover and Rover holds the funds , like an escrow company, and pays the sitter their percentage (Rover keeps their % fee) 2-3 days after the service is complete unless there is a hold due to investigative purposes - like if there was some question about services actually provided, or possibly injury to animal, in which case the rover guarantee may have resulted in them refunding a portion or all of the payment made towards services and helped cover expense of any veterinary care. Regarding the theft, I think they would advise you to file a police report, in which case they would comply with the authorities in providing any necessary background information. By paying outside of Rover, Rover does not receive their % fee- the sitter doesn't pay Rover ever. I'd highly suggest you call support, provide your information, the names of the people you used, the details about payment and the theft and inappropriate behavior.
