Charging per night or per dog?

I have a request from someone to dogsit for four nights. I charge $50 per night but that's usually with one or two dogs. They've asked me if I charge per night or per dog and I've just seen they have four dogs. Any advice on if I should charge per dog or per night? I'd hate to give the wrong answer and sound like I'm charging too much and potentially lose the job so I wanted to ask in here! I'm new on here and previously have just been using my own clientele from growing up doing this and word of mouth but wanted to grow it more. Don't want to make any mistakes right off that bat. Thanks in advance, guys!!!

I charge my base rate plus $20 per each additional dog. I have plenty of clients with multiple dogs. Some new clients will try to get a reduced rate but I remind them that I have already reduced the rate. People appreciate a loving responsible sitter, they are will to pay for a safe and happy pup.

Every sitter has their own rules and determine their own rates when caring for multiple dogs, some charge a lot for the extra's, some charge very little. First you need to think about how much time it will take to care for 4 dogs? Will you have to walk them several times a day or can they go outside in a fenced yard, to me that makes a big difference in time and amount of care. If they use the backyard I might charge $5 per dog, per night, bringing your rate to $60. If walks are required I might charge $80 per night. As you stated you don't want to charge too much, and since you are just starting and the client has already seen the $50 a night rate, I may do it for the $50, but ask the questions of the client I asked you, it will help you make the good decision for you. Best of luck

Absolutely charge per dog! Almost everyone does so you won't be an outlier. I personally don't charge full price for each additional dog, but four dogs are more work than one plus you are running a business. If you haven't officially set an additional dog rate you should. Potential clients will be able to see it, and it'll be in the price they see when they request the booking. That should help avoid awkward conversations. It won't prevent everyone from asking, but it is easier for you to respond when you already have it clearly laid out. In this platform, people don't have the same respect for pricing as they do for more official businesses so we have to stick up for ourselves.

I would definitely charge per dog, but my rate decreases significantly for the dogs after the first one. This is because more dogs equals more time, energy, and often supplies. It's completely up to you on how you want to do it, maybe get more info from the owner on the care required for each one but it's a pretty safe bet that everyone is charging per dog although the rates change depending on the caregiver.

I have a per dog rate. One dog is my regular rate and each additional dog is $10 per night. I require that the owner list all of the dogs I will be caring for is listed on Rover and they are all booked for the stay. If you don't have an "additional dog" rate I believe Rover charges your full amount for each dog. At least, that's how it worked almost a year ago when I had not added the additional dog rate. You can easily add a set amount under the additional charges in your settings. Good luck!
