If you want your sitter to make a copy of the key, you can absolutely do so. Rover won't tell you what you need to do, the choice is yours :)

Most owners provide a key to the sitter for drop=in and walking services, one option to consider is purcashing a lock box so the sitter cannot leave the house without returning the key.

Hi! I'm not sure if you're asking if you can request that the sitter make a copy of your key or if you are concerned a sitter might make a copy of your key. I think either way your question got answered. If you want the sitter to make his/her own copy, I would say that, yes, if that's the arrangement you make that is fine. However I think that if you want them to have their own key you should be responsible for that; if a potential client asked me to make a key I would not be comfortable with that. If you are concerned they will make a key, Rover sitters go through a background check so that is probably less likely than someone you find on your own. But, like with anything, there are no guarantees - you can check Rover policy if you'd like information on the screening process. I would go with Walt's suggestion and get a lock box if that's something you're worried about as it minimizes the risk. Good luck!
