Why on earth are Rover 'Now' fees an ABSURD 40%?! IT'S ROBBERY???

Can someone from Rover explain to us why they think the Rover 'Now' service should straight up DOUBLE the percentage they take from 20% to 40%?!?!

This is absolutely disgusting. Rover 'Now' doesn't even provide anything extra! It's just a money-grabbing way for them to capitalize on people who are available on short-notice and then come take ALMOST HALF their compensation, for doing nothing in regards to walking the dog.

Now I'm told the reason for this is to provide the extra 'On-Demand' support. So to get the same Rover Support that's already available, just as a specific 'On-Demand,' you have to DOUBLE the percentage taken??

This is just absurd. I appreciate the people of Rover Support, but taking 100% extra fees for this 'service' is absolutely unnecessary and unwarranted. Most of my contact with On-Demand support looks like this:

Me: "These instructions are wrong' Support: "Have you tried calling the owner?"

Just like that everytime. Which really isn't even Rover's fault, everything we do happens at a local level and there's only so much a 3rd party can provide in terms of support. Which just goes to prove my point that we absolutely don't NEED a dedicated On-Demand support team. I will easily opt out of it to get my other 20% back if they want to provide that option.

Where my Rover Now walkers?? We need to join together and let Rover know this is NOT OKAY!!! You work hard for your money!! We deserve more than this!! Do the RIGHT THING ROVER!

I just came on here to ask the same thing!? What!? Its insane. I used to use the wag platform and hated it and felt ripped off all the time. Totally bummed rover is trying to do the same thing now. I totally thought it would be the same percentage as everything else.

You're totally right Ashley. I actually had Wag cancel my application because I found out about their massive take of 40% per walk. I figured I would just stay loyal to Rover...but they don't tell you upfront that your service fee is about to double to an insane 40%.

Im finding Rover to be a huge waste and robbery even for 20% w reg booking type. Support is useless and errors on the rise; more time req’d for less $ of what is already a pittance... glad this branch was suspended

Oh man that's such a shame to hear! Especially when I never have a single walk that doesn't actually account to at least an hour of not a hour and a half in over walk time, feeding, leashing, refilling water, locking the house up, and getting to and from the owners house! Walks are never 30minutes lol what a shame. Every YouTube comparison of wag vs rover always states how rover is better because they don't take a whopping big percentage of earnings from each walk. But now they have done the ultimate injustice to their own business by doing this there will be no favoring between working for rover vs working for wag now because both take the same cut. But wag seems to have more clients and service areas then rover so I think people will choose one with the larger service areas and clients already signed up. But again I'm not sure of how rover on demand is actually in demand by clients yet. Has anyone seen both platforms? And how many requests they see each day in their city on each company's platform?

Does rover on demand having tipping feauture like wag apparently does? If it doesn't then that really is crazy they would take the same percentage without that feature at least! But also if they do have the tipping feature in rover demand that really sucks if they haven't rolled it out for everyone!

Nope! No tipping feature, and they don't do anything to encourage or suggest that people use the Rebook feature if they found a walker they're happy with.

Wow wow wow !!!!!!!that is insane!!! No tips yet they want to take 40%?! When wag offers tipping and rebook what a joke !

You get better tips on wag to be honest and if a customer cancel when you are in your way you still get 10 bucks. Rover does not give a f about their walkers!!! Even when customers try to screw you over Rover can watch you being taken up Your back end and no give a rats ass about you. Sink Rover and go to Wag.
