What are the pros/cons of payment by Paypal vs Check?

I signed up to be a Rover dog sitter last week, I am curious about the benefits/cons of each payment method? I believe Paypal would be faster but I like the idea of having the taxes deducted. Any input would be helpful. Also, any suggestions about getting my first few customers.

Each check will cost you $2 and take longer. These links are from the Help Center: https://support.rover.com/hc/en-us/ar... https://support.rover.com/hc/en-us/ar...

As an independent contractor you are responsible for your own taxes. Paypal doesn't do your taxes. Rover doesn't do your taxes, so it's up to you if you want to be paid via Paypal or Rover check.

I, personally, use the Rover check option. I do not support Paypal business. I have to pay $2 fee for each check ,but that is OK with me. I can afford it so that's why I chose that option. But I try to only cash out when my balance is between $500 and $1000.

The check will be issued to you within 3 days and will be mailed to you via USPS.

So it's your call if you are Paypal friendly or not :)

Lenka do you find it easier to use the Rover check option? Is this because of taxes? I have insurance via the marketplace and do not want to be penalized come tax season. I was originally thinking to use Paypal. Thanks!

PayPal does not withhold taxes; as an independent contractor you should set aside at least 20% of your Rover earnings to cover taxes, and if you are making a large amount you should be paying taxes quarterly to avoid a penalty. You may want to consider consulting a tax advisor. Best of luck
