Do sitters hit Book It before or after their meet and greet?

I will often wait until after I meet a pup before I officially book the client, just in case they don't gel with me. Is that normal? I was asked to drop in on a pup and I asked a question, didn;t hear back until I followed up and they said that someone booked right away, so that's who they went with.

Yes absolutely book after meet and greet! I require my clients do a meet and greet first! I don’t think it’s safe to just book a client without meeting them for you or them!!

After! I expect those sitters who accept jobs without a meeting are the ones who post here about all the problems they encounter and wonder why...

I require a M&G before making a decision about whether to accept a request. I never book a stay until after a M&G. I need to see how the dog acts in my house and how it reacts to me. I also need to determine if the owners are people I want to deal with on a long term basis.

Totally agree as the dog owner I want to make sure my dog gels with sitter and also myself.

ALWAYS 'book it' after you have your meet&greet! If you book it prior, then don't match up well OR are uncomfortable then you are kind of stuck. I let clients know when they come to the M&G what else is left in the booking process, should it seem like a good match.

I definitely require a m&g beforehand. I've also had people just book the visit but I still ask that a m&g be done either way.

I know not all meet and greets are guaranteed, but sitters do take valued time out of their day to meet with owners and theirs pets, and some may not even have the courtesy of following back up with you after your scheduled meet and greet. Some may even schedule a meet and greet and either not show up, or cancel last minute. For this reason, I feel river needs to set a policy that also protects the independent contractors dedicated time. I would consider booking first, and then scheduling a meet and greet. There is always a cancelation option on both the owner and the sitters end, I believe that by booking first, sitters can atleast be accommodated for their dedicated time.

100% AFTER! You need to know if its a good fit for both parties!

I have always done a Meet and Greet first and usually book it while there or just after leaving the M&G.

I always book before. Otherwise the meet and greet is working for free.

Does that mean you charge for the meet and greet? Or just that you’d prefer it’s a guaranteed sit before you waste your time?
