Should I Keep a dog that has had an episode of Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis the week before the stay?

The owner lets me know a little before 9 last night that her dog was rushed to the VET with what they think was HGE she says. She is due to drop them off at 7 am, but their flight isn't until the afternoon. I have already advised her I will probably have her contact her vet and let them know the dog will be in my care while she is out of town. For the safety of not only my own dog, but I have 3 dogs booked for doggie daycare arriving at 11:30 I really feel like I need something from the vet that they have ruled out anything else that could be contagious? Should I contact someone at Rover to find out what they would have me do? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Worrying about this is not letting me get any good rest and tomorrow is gonna be a busy day!

Hi, I know a little late but yes I would still would take the dog. Mentioning to mom that with HGE that they don't really know the cause of it but stress can be a factor. Chances of the dog having something contagious is not very likely being that the vet diagnosed her with HGE. (Trust me they do many test to rule out every other possibility before saying its HGE. As far as your care for her, is really just trying to keep her clam and comfortable. as little stress as possible. Making sure that she is eating and drinking. If you notice any problems to follow up with her vet. I would also make sure that you have a copy of her medical records from her vet just in case you need to take her to the emergency room (chances are you will not have to). This will save the owner a ton of money by not having to rerun tests. Also having a credit card on file with her regular veterinarian so you don't have to worry about expenses. Another alternative to a credit card on file is a lot of my clients will leave me a signed blank check, this way if I needed I would have the funds available and if I do not use it, at the end of their stay the owner gets the check back. Good Luck, hope everything works out for you!
