Constructive Critism on my Profile?

Hey everyone!

I have just recently joined and my profile has just gone live. I've made a number of tweaks before then and as I continue to read suggestions from the Rover community.

There are only two other sitters in my area, one does not do walks or drop-ins. As Rover will be a service that not many people will know about in the area I want to leave a good impression not only for myself but the community at large. I will need to do flyers, social media posts, hand out business cards and more to make my services and Rover known. Marketing is something I'm familiar with and don't expect any hassles.

My rates I have kept consistent with what others in the surrounding area have and what is automatically suggested by Rover.

The pictures I have are various quality but show a few dogs I have met and cared for over the years.

I am not in a position to do boarding and don't yet feel comfortable doing overnight pet sitting at this time. Is limiting myself to only walks and drop-in's an issue?

Thank you everyone in advance for taking the time to review my profile!

Nothing wrong with starting small and expanding later ;)

Hi Sarah,

I am a full time walker on Rover in the Washington DC area, my community is large with lots of folks who work long hours and have long commutes - so my area is prime for walking. Not sure about your community but I saw you are outside Edmonton so you may have a similar situation? Creating flyers to post on local bulletin boards can prove to be helpful in acquiring clients, your vet can also be a good source if you have a good relationship with them, local pet adoption groups can also be fruitful.

The thing with Rover is you need to be patient as it takes time to acquire a good client base, in my case I was live for 3 months before my first booking, but after that it took off and my weekly calendar has been 100% full for the past 15 months. I did a search in your area and it appears to me that Rover has yet to get a lot of momentum as most sitters/walkers only have a few reviews and even less verified stays (booking reviews).

I really can't find any flaws with your profile so all I can say is best of luck and wish you tons of success in the future. Walt

Hey Walt, Thanks for the reply and for taking the time to look at my profile as well as the other sitters in my area! I'm going to have to put out some flyers and get some business cards to hand out as well. Luckily I'm patient! Thanks for the link, I'll definitely be joining! :D
