Is it okay for another sitter in the same area to copy part of my profile word for word and place it on her profile?

Another sitter in the same area just copied part of my profile word for word and put it on her profile. Is there any recourse to make her change it? To top it off, she is newer than me and is charging $10. less per night. I feel like she just degraded my profile after I put so much thought into what I wrote. I wish Rover would have something to protect the authenticity of each sitter's profile.

Sorry that happened, Shaun! At least you noticed it. That seems like something that Rover would address.

Unfortunately, Rover decided not to do anything about it. It's a terrible feeling to have someone steal wording off of my profile when she is my direct competition. Oh well, what can I do but re-write it which proves to be harder than expected.

Shaun I am terribly sorry to hear that. On a good note they clearly were impressed by your profile! I think I would include how long you've been working successfully with Rover without incident towards the top of your profile where it will be seen. Hopefully that will help highlight your successes!

I would call Rover again. I am surprised that they will not do anything about it. They have to have something in the contract about Copy Rights. But none the less, If Rover is still not willing to help I would Call the Sitter myself. I would be nice but firm. Telling them that it was brought to your attention that her profile page is copied word for word from your page and that she needs to remove what she copied from your profile and rewrite her own. I would not rewrite yours!

I think that if you go to her nicely but with authority (or at least let her think you have it) she will back down especially if she is new here.

The other part was you mentioned her price- that actually works in your favor because clients are not always looking for the cheapest person, its the quality that they are paying for.

Best of Luck!

Thank you so much! The only way I can get a hold of her is to request she watch my dog. She copied my whole section about what I would like to know about the dog. I would NEVER do that to another sitter and I was very disappointed in Rover because I work hard for them and they didn't have my back.

request the date you write to her for 1 night. In comment section introduce yourself and request she rewrites her owner. Expressing no one likes their hard work copied verbatim. Tell her to remove w/in24h u don't want to take future actions on copy right infringements. she doesn't know u r bluffing

I do hear you on being disappointed with Rover. I use to be a primer sitter with Rover but was very disappointed in them after realizing that I put so much effort into being loyal & dedicated to Rover for them not have my back. Not asking for special only asking for Fair! So I do hear & feel 4 you!

You should call Rover and tell them your profile has been copied. I'm sure they will deal with it.

I just had this happen to me. I've been sitting on the platform for over 2 years and a new sitter in the area just copied/pasted most of my profile content. I have contacted Rover but her profile is still up with my stolen, plagiarized content.

Unfortunately, Ive had other sitters red flag my craigs list rover postings for months now!!!!....no clue why. Healthy competition is always good. I would love to meet more local sitters and become friends so we can exchange business. Ive had so many clients ive had to turn away because i am booked and would love to refer them to someone i know. I am sorry this is happening to you. I would hope Rover would do something...keep us posted.

I had the pleasure of meeting another Rover sitter nearby and we are great friends now, We refer each other dogs when we are booked up and we love to swap dog stories and have good laughs. But I tell you the sitter who stole my whole section about what I would like to know about a dog can't be nice.

I would look at it as a compliment on your excellent profile :) Newbs often try to closely copy what experienced sitters do, until they settle in their own groove. Besides, I looked at your stats, which are VERY impressive, and those can't be copy/pasted!

Cindy didn't you notice the original post was from 2016?

Arrrghh! I usually look for a date. My mind is mush today. Apologies.

The What You'd Like to Know About a Dog section is one of the areas more likely to be copied by new sitters starting out. Since Rover does not want to address it, I would not re-write anything on the profile (at least the person didn't copy the About Me section!) Even though it isn't okay, try to consider that "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery". This sitter couldn't think of anything better than to copy You, Not anyone else. I hope that helps.

I know it can be frustrating when your thoughtful work is copied verbatim. It seems when someone isn't sure what to write, they simply copy text (some more than others, but I realize people have done that, and not just within the confines of Rover or dog care, but in every part of the business world.)

I contacted the sitter and she turned out to be very nice and changed the wording back to her own. I didn't give her enough credit before I started to complain. We exchanged phone numbers and all is good!! She was really great!

Wow! I'm so surprised by this
