Do I provide the leash, dog bowls, etc?

Wondering what all I will need to bring to visits.

If you are doing drop in visits or house sitting, the client should provide all the equipment, food, etc. for the dog(s). If you are boarding in your home, it's up to you. I give new clients a checklist of things to bring, such as food, leash, bed, etc. And I emphasize they must bring the dog's own food to avoid digestive issues when switching to another food suddenly. I have bought a crate, harness, and a few other items just to have in case the owner forgets them, and I have plenty of bowls. I prefer to use the dog's own equipment because they are more familiar with it. Anything you buy for your business is a tax deduction, BTW.

I ask the owner to bring the food and treats, leash harness or collar and bed or crate depending on what the dog is used to. As far as toys, I prefer they don't bring any since its easy to get them all mixed up and then have an un happy client if you dont send the right ones back with the dog. I also suggest they bring a worn t-shirt or something so the dog has their smell during the stay.

Great tip about the toys! I ask the same things of my clients, and let them know I have a treasure trove of toys for their dog to choose from when they are here. I hate to send back toys that have been torn up or dirtied during their stay.
