Does archiving requests affect your site ranking?

Just curious. I've had a bunch of requests not work out lately (too far away, owner didn't get back to me, dog wasn't a good fit) and I'm wondering if the ratio of accepted/archived affects my ranking. I do think I'm a bit farther from the top of the search results these days.

Hi, Sarah. Yes, not accepting requests does affect your Booking Rate percentage which would in turn affect your ranking. I would suggest reviewing your profile settings to possibly adjust the radius in which you are willing to offer your services and the types of dogs you accept to try to prevent receiving requests for dogs that are not a good fit. This may help with the need to archive so many requests and also helps clients with selecting the right sitter.

My profile is set to a 5 mile radius and yet I've received requests outside of that, so I don't know. I've also found that most people don't really read through the profile.

If a request falls outside your service area or otherwise doesn't meet your profile specifications, it will say at the top something like "this request doesn't meet your requirements but please respond anyway". My understanding is that turning down this kind of request won't affect your Booking Rate

It's just really weird because the people above me in ranking haven't had any reviews this year and generally look quite inactive. One of them doesn't even show a response time on their profile

At least in the last request it did not indicate that it was outside my service radius even though it was 7 something miles away

The people above you w/o reviews are likely new sitters. They get a boost when joining to help them get started. Something I've found w/ the radius is that even though a house is technically within my mile radius, you obviously can't drive in a straight line, so sometimes the route itself is longer.

Hi, no I'm talking about sitters who have been on the site since around 2014 but haven't had new verified reviews for like, a year. But have verified reviews from 2014 and 2015. Although there are two very new sitters with no verified reviews (only testimonials) above me too

Archiving requests only hurts you if you choose certain ones like dog wasn’t a good fit owner wasn’t a good fit but if you choose outside service radius or owners plans changed etc. things that are not your fault then it does not hurt your booking rating also you can dispute that with Rover customer service I’ve had a number of requests which obviously were not inside my service area or fell on days that I had blacked out and Rover has helped me with that no matter what always respond to the client even if you can’t help them and be courteous They will appreciate a speedy response even if you can’t sit for their pet because it allows them to move right along in their search for a sitter
