Booking Drop In Visit Dates?

Hi, this is more of a suggestion to Rover then a question, but if you have had the same problem and have a solution I'd love to hear. I offer Drop-In-Visits and Dog Walking services and I've had clients who need Drop-In-Visits for their pet but only periodic dates instead of long term dates like boarding. I don't suggest periodic drop ins, but some pet parents only need check ins twice a week for their dog while there at work, to play ball, feed etc. or cat parents need some to drop in, top off their cats food and water bowl and change the litter, or someone just needs their garden watered. With dog walking, you can pick each date you want your dog walked, but the drop in visit booking system is like boarding, long term, every day periods. Example: I need my dog walked three days this week from the 1st-7th, you can book the, 1st, 4th & 7th dates. Drop in visits you can't cut out dates in the booking. I don't want my client to have to book each individual date in a separate bookings. For these problems I've had to come up with solutions. One being, cut my rate in half and visit only on the dates asked by the owner and two, just book it as a walking request. Neither are a very good solution or a very professional way to book with new customers. I would just like to address this problem and hope Rover would update and fix this issue. Thank you, ~Mary

Hi, Mary:

For the care you are suggesting, I book these as "walks". I let the clients know that drop-in visit booking are for continuous dates, while "walks" are for periodic dates. This is why my drop-in and walk prices are the same.

Hi Shane, Thanks for the suggestion. That is exactly how I've been booking such requests and I too same walking/visit rates. We should be able to book visits as visit request though and I think Rover should update this. Thank You! ~Mary

I don't do walks through Rover, but I think Shane's idea of booking your drop in visits as 'walks' would be a great idea. That way, you can book the exact days the clients wants without getting overly complicated. Depending on your rates, you can adjust these specific bookings to reflect your drop rate vs. your walking rate.

Has anyone found another work around for this problem? I have the same situation where the owners work from home some days but need drop ins on others. I have a client asking if I can do a weekly drop in for guinea pigs. It seems odd to label it as a walk, but I think that's what I'll have to do.
