I would like to take a Canine CPR and first aide course for my own peace of mind. Anyone have experience with this?

Hi, Cathy!

I think the Canine CPR is a great asset to a sitter. Luckily, I've never needed to use it, but I always feel better knowing that I'm well equipped. My course was a one day course where we learned CPR and first-aid with an instructor and then had to complete a skills check-off to earn our certification.

I was able to find my class through my dog trainer, but know many others have located classes through PetTech. They have a website that will show you classes and instructors in your area.

Thanks so much Shane. I hope to never use it either but have a nursing background from a long time ago and feel it could be useful just in case. I couldn't find a resource. I've already checked them out and e-mailed them. I appreciate you!

I took mine last year and it is very good information. I hope I never have to use it because I am afraid I'll panic and not remember a thing. I went through Pet Tech and found one close to my home. It's looks good on your profile to, if you have CPR/ First Aid training.

I took a local course 2 years ago? LOTS of information. The course also included information on disaster preparedness. I'll probably look for just First Aid/CPR next time. Praise God I haven' t had to use any of that training!
