why won't I be offered any other jobs until the first is archived?
I have a pending request that is unarchived and I wont be meeting with the dogs owner until this weekend

That is just the way the system works. So you should archive it for now. You will have your M&G this weekend as planned and, if it all goes well, you can accept the booking from the archive or carry on further discussions from there.
Archiving doesn't remove or cancel the request. I've had several cases where I archived the request and after a M&G the client booked the stay. It's also a way to contact a client again or have them contact you for a booking in the future.
