“Sonya was amazing with our dog, lots of communication and updates along the way. This was our first time leaving our dog with someone and we couldn’t be happier. Sonya is very accommodating and treats your dog as if it’s her own:)”

“Shannon is amazing with dogs. Our 9 month year old rough collie took right to her. She understands doggy needs and comforts. Thank you so much Shannon for your excellent care of Butterscotch for 2 weeks.”

“Luna had a wonderful time staying with Victoria's family and their two dogs. I think she was a little sad to go home! We enjoyed receiving the pictures and updates on our trip. Would happily recommend Victoria as a great sitter.”

“Deanna felt like the right fit from the beginning. She has a genuine love for your fur baby. I never once worried and I know Milo won’t want to leave when we go to pick him up! Highly recommend Deanna.”

“We had a wonderful experience with Amanda. My dog has a tendency to do marking inside the house, and she handled the situation with so much patience, understanding, and care. She made sure he was always safe, comfortable, and truly happy during his stay. What I really appreciated was how knowledgeable she is, she even gave me helpful advice on how to better manage this behavior in the future. She and her partner are a very kind and experienced couple, and it truly shows in how they care for dogs. I would highly recommend Amanda to anyone who wants to leave their dog and not have to worry at all while they are away. When I picked my dog up, he was actually missing her, which says everything about how well he was treated.”

About: I have been a pet owner for as long as I can remember and have experience caring for dogs of different ages, sizes, and personalities. I'm a confident, patient and attentive caregiver who understands that each dog has unique needs. I prioritize safety, consistency, and making each dog feel comfortable and at home. Whether it's walks, playtime, cuddles, or maintaining their regular routine, I'll care for your dog as if they were my own. As a stay at home parent, I have a flexible schedule and am home most of the day. This allows me to provide plenty of attention, regular potty breaks, exercise, playtime, and companionship. I can easily maintain your dog's normal routine to help them feel comfortable and at home during their stay. Your dog's safety and comfort are my top priorities. I have a fully fenced yard for safe outdoor play and one friendly, well-socialized dog who enjoys meeting new friends. I always introduce the dogs gradually and supervise interactions to ensure everyone is comfortable. If your dog needs their own space, I'm happy to accommodate this as well, including crating if requested. I'll follow your feeding schedule, exercise routine, and any special instructions. I will send you updates if requested so you can enjoy your time away knowing your pet is in caring hands.
“Rebecca took great care of Nash during his stay and was very flexible and accommodating for some of his extra needs following dental surgery. It is clear that Nash got lots of exercise and was well loved during his stay. We would highly recommend Rebecca and her family :)”

About: I have experience with positive reinforcement dog training and care, from young dogs to seniors that are blind, deaf, have allergies, need medications, ones that have special needs and diets, or rescues with PTSD. I currently work from home most days a month so I will be present and allow for as many bio breaks as they might need. If there are days I am required in the office, every effort will be made to ensure prompt return. When I have to run errands, I try my best to keep my time away to a few hours max. This is a fur babies come first home which is my principal foundation of how they will be loved and cared for. I have a bungalow style home which is great for pets that struggle with stairs. Even the sofa and bed are situated to accommodate accessibility for seniors and littles that want to be independent and make themselves at home. Do you have a little that isn’t a fan of taking potty breaks in the rain or snow? We have a little protected area for those that are particular. We also have a fully fenced backyard in a quiet area that is surrounded by nature, not far from the rails to trails. I also have two laid back senior toy poodles that will help keep your fur baby company and feel at ease. If there are any special circumstances or concerns you have regarding their routine and care, please let me know so I can ensure we maintain consistency. Each pet is different in personality and in what they need to be happy and cared for.
“Jess was absolutely amazing! I highly recommend her. My dog stayed for one week over the holidays .Dexter was treated like he was one of her babies, I got pictures daily and updates . I will definitely use her again! 😊😊”

“David and Emma were fantastic with our dog, Stanley. He has quite a few quirky routines and specific needs, and they took excellent care of him and followed everything perfectly. They truly went above and beyond to make sure he was happy and well cared for. I wouldn’t hesitate to have them look after Stanley again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a caring and reliable dog sitter.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
