“Bruna is a fantastic caretaker. My pup goes there once a week to socialize and exercise, and comes home a happy, exhausted boy. The pack-walks at the park have made an obvious improvement in his behaviour at the dog park when he's there with us, and he's grown more confident around new dogs. 10/10 would absolutely recommend.”

About: I grew up having dogs and cats. I have been dog sitting, walking, boarding and cat sitting for my friends pets. I'm a dedicated and calm animal lover. Pet care is a already part of my daily routine. I care for my cat every day, making sure she’s fed and gets the attention she needs. I’m used to scheduling my time around pets’ routines, whether that means visits, playtime, or medication when needed. I own my home, so visiting pets will be in a calm and safe environment. I make sure they have plenty of attention and never leave them unattended during visits. If a visiting kitty needs their own space, I can provide a quiet, separate room.
“Natasha was great with Taco, responded fast, provided updates during the day and was very accommodating. I highly recommend Natasha and look forward to booking with her again :)”

About: My husband (Scott) and I have had dogs (and other animals) our entire lives. Over the years, we have consistently opened our home to rescues, strays, fosters, friend/ family pets, and have even socialized 4 litters of feral kittens for the Humane Society. Scott also has close to 15 years’ worth of experience with the Humane Society as a cruelty investigator. In 2024, we had to say farewell to both our aged cat and dog . We so miss our four-legged companions and are now ready to share our home again by spoiling your furry friends with exercise, cuddles and play time. So, doing so through Rover seemed like a natural fit. We both work from home, giving us the flexibility to pamper, exercise and stimulate your pooch! If our energy wanes at all, rest assured our 9-year-old son is always ready to step in with his endless enthusiasm 😊 Our extensive experience with senior animals, has also provided us with skills in administering medication, attending to spinal injuries, elderly pets, specialized food preparation etc. Having owned a rescue dalmatian, two rescue miniature dachshunds, and a 3-legged hound, we are also very familiar how to accommodate special needs, diets, injuries etc. Most importantly, we have learned that each furry friend has their own unique personality! 😊 A quick note about compatibility: To ensure a safe, calm, and positive environment for everyone—especially our returning clients—dogs staying with us must be non-aggressive toward other dogs. If your dog requires one-on-one care or has challenges with dog interactions, this may still be possible by arrangement, but an additional fee may apply to fairly account for the extra supervision and management required. We’re always happy to discuss your dog’s needs openly to determine the best fit. We can’t wait to meet your fur baby and spoil it like it is our own (and we will send you pictures to prove it)! Melody & Scott We work from home daily and make a point of walking at least once a day, no matter the weather (with or without a four-legged friend). Our house is steps away from the Chelsea rails to trails so we have miles of fun trails to explore together! Our home has multiple water stations, dog beds, and dog toy stations. Play time, brushing and cuddles are the highlight of the day in our home, so we make time for these regularly throughout the day!! We love to play with our furry friends! “Lucas and Thyara are great sitters! They were very attentive and I got frequent updates. Oreo enjoyed their beautiful home and playing in their yard. I definitely recommend them!”

“River had a great stay with Kristina and came home happy and pooped! She loved playing with Kristina's fur-babies and running around in the big backyard. Kristina took great care of her, teaching her some new tricks + checked in regularly with updates and pictures and videos. 10/10! Will book with Kristina again.”
About: I have taken care of my precious Maggie for the past 15 years, before she crossed the rainbow bridge <3 Dog sitting is such a great way to meet other dog souls and I am so ready to give some love and take care of a pet. I absolutely love dogs and their sweet presence. I enjoy going on walks in the forest nearby (various Gatineau Park trails), play with them, take care of them and relax with them (on our sunny deck outside, in a hamac, on our couch). I am comfortable with teaching baisc skills to dogs or maintaning their skills. I use positive reinforcement and yummy treatos. I can also take care of dogs with a lot of fur as my Maggie was a Sheltie. We can also bring the dog to our favorite gentle groomer for nail trims. My partner will also help when he is home, and he loves dogs just as much as I do! He is really good at teaching various commands to dogs, he is extremely patient and he also loves to play with dogs. Together, we make a good team! And we can play in the yard, trails or dog park with your puppy :) . I am currently a full time student, and occasional yoga teacher. Simon works from Monday to Thursday on a flexible schedule. We are home some afternoons/mornings depending on our schedule, and every evening. We can take the dog outside for walks mornings and evening, and sometimes at noon. Or we can let the dog chill outside in our backyard to enjoy the smells and the sun, provided the pup is comfortable on a long leash. The yard is 90% private and fenced, there is just a unfenced gap on the side that looks into our parking lot or is covered by cedars. We are home on weekends and can provide lots of activities and care for your puppy from Friday to Sunday. We try to coordinate our schedule to spend as much time as possible providing care for the pet we sit :) We can provide potty breaks from 4-8 hours. I have a big private yard that is partially fenced, but we have a long leash so the dog can roam around. If you have a long leash too, please bring it! There is a big garden in our yard not accessible to the dogs. There are lots of squirrel and birds around our backyard. We live near the Gatineau Park, so lots of possibilities for walks and runs on a leash in the woods. We also have a spacious home where the dogs can play around, we have some dog pillows, and a small & big crate if necessary. We have a closed shower if the dogs need a little cleanup. If necessary, we also have a barrier/baby gate. There are no cats nor kids in the house, no one smokes and our neighborhood is quiet and calm. We do have plants in the house. We can also bring the dogs to dog parks nearby by foot or by car. We can drive around to other trails where the dogs could walk off-leash, play in water or play fetch. Our neighbourhood is calm, we live at the end of a cul-de-sac. Almost no cars drive by, but we occasionally see walkers and dogs on our street.
“Brigitte was so amazing with my little Toffee! She took him a little last minute as I couldn't get my regular sitter and just gave him the best day a little doggie could ask for with all the cuddles. Thank you so much!!”

About: As an animal lover, I have significant experience with cats and dogs. My father is a veterinarian, so I have also gained extensive experience working with pets with special needs/accommodations. I have also fostered both cats and dogs for multiple rescue agencies. I can’t wait to discuss how I can support you and your pet! I am currently working part time, so I have plenty of time and attention available for your pet. When your pet is in my care, they will be the #1 priority. I have a safe apartment and a cute, patient kitty to keep your fur baby company. I am also an avid walker, so I look forward to walking frequently with your dog. As well, I am comfortable with crating your pet, and following any other routines.
“i made a last minute booking, they were incredibly accommodating to times and the fact that i have a young pup. Will definitely be booking again. Cannot say enough good things.”
“Eddy was a very happy puppy in her care. They bonded and Eddy trusted her right away. She kept me posted with updates the entire day. He definitely had a lot of play time and exercise because he slept the entire evening lol”

“Grace is my dog’s new best friend! She is a great communicator, flexible on schedules and really truly loves dogs. My dog now freaks out when the carrier comes out as she knows she is going to see her friend Grace. Would highly recommend!”

“We used Olivia multiple times during our annual vacation in Ottawa and every time she kept us in the loop and our boys were returned happy and relaxed, which is great. Overnight stays were equally relaxed despite us worrying about the boys! She fully informed us of all aspects of their visits even asking if they could have some human food as we are vegans, of course they could and they had a great time. A+”

“We cannot say enough wonderful things about Yingshu and Shervin! From the moment we met them, we knew our puppy, Muse, was in caring, capable, and genuinely loving hands. Available on short notice, and they went above and beyond to make sure our pup felt comfortable, happy, and well cared for while we were away. We received regular updates, photos, and messages that gave us complete peace of mind. When we picked her up, Muse was relaxed, happy, and clearly very well loved. It’s such a gift to find people you can fully trust with your pet, and we are beyond grateful for the incredible care they provided. We would recommend them wholeheartedly to anyone looking for dependable, compassionate, and exceptional pet sitters. Thank you for taking such amazing care of our little Muse!”

About: I’m an experienced, caring and safety conscious dog minder and have lived with and taken care of dogs most of my life. I worked closely with my own dog’s breeder through her 3 litters - her last litter I was the solo midwife. Mia has graduated out of the breeding program and we now look forward to hosting pup friends through Rover. I’m a keen observer of dog behaviours and my family gets a lot of joy in providing a happy, safe and caring home environment for new friends. I work from home 100% so your dog will have lots of company, play time and several walks geared to their energy level. I’ve taken care of many older dogs and special needs pups and am happy to administer medications per your instructions. We live near trails and parks and have a small backyard that backs onto the woods - so lots of squirrels to watch and outing options to suit energy levels. Whether for a day or a few weeks we look forward to getting to know your little one and making them feel part of the family. I take pups out for morning, lunchtime and evening walks, all on leash. In between I sometimes work away at my desk with a little one on my lap or nearby on a dog ‘couch’. For short errands it’ll monitor my ring camera to make sure your pup is happy at home with my Labradoodle, Mia. Your dog will be part of the family. I’m careful to not let dogs off-leash unless we're within a fenced-in yard. Your dog will get at least 3 walks a day for 10-45 minutes, depending on their stamina. I monitor mealtimes to ensure peaceful eating. Please let me know how they are when left with a buddy for short periods.
About: I’ve grown up surrounded by dogs, both in my family and through regularly caring for and walking them. I also volunteered at several animal shelters over the years, where I helped care for abandoned dogs — walking them, assisting with basic care, and supporting their rehabilitation. This experience taught me how to adapt to dogs of all sizes and temperaments, including those who need extra patience and reassurance. I pay close attention to their behavior to respect their pace, energy level, and individual needs. To me, dogs are family members, and I always strive to provide a safe, stable, and caring environment while carefully following each owner’s instructions. I work 100% remotely, which allows me to be home full-time and give plenty of attention to the pets in my care. I have a flexible schedule and am available throughout the week and on weekends. Pets are never left alone for long periods and benefit from consistent supervision, regular walks, and attention tailored to their needs. I live in a quiet and bright one-bedroom apartment with a secure balcony. I do not have any pets or children, which ensures a calm and stress-free environment where your pet can feel safe and at home. I always maintain a clean, organized, and secure living space.
“Erin took care of my 6 month pup for the day and was very communicative, asking about his routine and what he’s been learning so she could reinforce while he was with her. She thoughtfully put a coat on my doodle when it snowed unexpectedly to protect his fur. He came home tired and slept for the evening. I’d happily book care with Erin again.”

“I cannot be happier with having picked Jeff to take care of my pup on his first daycare adventure. He came highly recommended and I am looking forward to knowing my dog is in good hands the next time Jeff is watching him.”

Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Wakefield commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in QC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines such as the DHPP or DA2PP, Rabies, and Bordetella.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 84% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 84% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 89% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
