“Really thankful I came across Teena and Wayne’s profile when searching for someone to watch my dog while I was away in Portugal on vacation. Teena and Wayne were instantly responsive and arranged for a meet and greet with my dog Karma prior to us deciding whether or not she would benefit and be a good fit for staying 12 days with them while I was away. The meet and greet went well, and I felt confident that Karma would be well taken care of while I was traveling. She was instantly comfortable with both of them and they also asked important questions about Karma and how best to care for her! That showed me that they really do care about their quality of service, and that I could trust them to watch her. They were great at setting me updates throughout the time that I was away and that allowed me to feel more confident and comfortable that Karma was in good hands. We had met with another sitter before them and it just didn’t feel right, but from our very first meet and greet with Heather and Matt, we immediately knew they were the perfect fit. We felt confident leaving Charlie in their care. They treated him like part of their family and truly loved him. Their communication was exceptional—we received regular updates and lots of photos, which gave us such peace of mind. This was especially important to us as Charlie had recently had surgery to remove a lump on his back and still had stitches. They followed all instructions perfectly and were so attentive and caring. Charlie is also very spoiled and loves being cozy with his blankets, and they went above and beyond by setting up his bed near the fireplace to keep him warm! We felt completely at ease the entire time and were so impressed that we’ve already booked another stay. We cannot recommend Heather and Matt highly enough.”

About: Our Story: We have always had rescue cats but became more involved with dogs about 12 years ago when a Cambridge area rescue assisted us with our neighbour's dog in a difficult situation. We began fostering for them but quickly learned that we are more of adoptive dog owners and ended up keeping our third dog. He remained with us until he passed away at age 15. We continue to have cats. We are a household with children, aged 10, and a young adult who respects animals and the space that they may need. House sitting: We are happy to have your dog come to our home provided that they are good with children and cats. There is normally one adult in the home at all times and we can provide the potty breaks that your dog needs. We are also happy to have cats come over and will provide a space for the cat until all of the cats get used to each other. Dog Walks: We will take your dog on a walk to give them exercise and use up some energy! We are happy to accommodate your dog's needs, whether they have anxiety or need to play. If you are not home, we will check their water and provide you with an update on how the walk was. Visits: We will come and check on your dog or cat, ensure that they have food and take them out to use the bathroom or clean the litter. We will spend time with them and give scratches behind the ear. We have one adult working remotely and the other working out of the house. There is normally an adult in the home at all times, except for school drop offs and pick ups. Our yard is fenced and we do not let dogs outside without supervision. Our cats have a separate space either upstairs or downstairs in the basement with a gate to separate the dogs and cats, if required.

About: I grew up with a beautiful, high-energy golden retriever, taking him for walks and car rides, brushing him, and giving him tons of pets. As someone who loves animals but isn’t in the position to have a pet of my own, I take any opportunity I can to hangout and take care of them. I had the opportunity recently to dog walk a senior dog and pet sit a couple big dogs for a few family friends and loved every minute of it. I took them for walks and potty breaks, fed them, played with them, and made sure to keep them on their normal routine while their owners were away. I am a quick learner who is able to follow instruction very well and ask questions when needed, so if your pet needs any extra care (for example, administering oral medication), I am more than comfortable taking on new tasks. I am currently in between employment and am looking for ways to make some money while I gear up for a master’s program in Scotland this fall. My availability is very flexible (e.g. mornings, afternoons, evenings, week days, and weekends) as my only other commitment is helping my brother with special needs on occasion. I will have plenty of time to give extra care and attention to your pets. I am very respectful, making sure to treat your home and pets as my own and ensuring their safety. For walks, I’ll make sure to use your preferred collar or harness, take the same walking route if that is what your pet prefers, always picking up their poop and putting it in the proper garbage, and making sure the doors/gates are locked before leaving. If your dog doesn’t enjoy interactions with other pets or people, I will make sure to avoid those situations, or if they do, give them plenty of time to socialize. In the home, I will make sure any hazards are put away, food is secured, things are put back where they belong, and make sure off-limit places stay off-limits. I will follow all instructions and send questions your way if I am unsure about anything. Plus, I’ll send photo updates so you know your pet is happy and well when you’re away.

About: Being a dog lover my entire life, I have always taken any opportunity to work with dogs. My first job was at Ren’s Pets Depot, where I was able to interact with pets and their owners every day. Over the years, I have raised three guide dogs through the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides, as well as provided dog sitting for their fosters and career-changed dogs. I also worked at the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA as a canine assessor. In addition, I have volunteered as a photographer for various animal rescue organizations such as Save Our Scruff and Bark at the Moon K9 Rescue. Because of this experience, I have the ability and knowledge to care for a wide range of dogs, from puppies to anxious dogs to rescues. I can provide a calm, structured, and welcoming environment tailored to each pup’s individual needs. Lyndon, my 7-year-old black Lab mix and career-changed guide dog, is easygoing and social. He loves the company of other dogs and will be a steady, friendly companion during their stay. Olly, my 6-month-old dachshund, is a bit more reserved at first but warms up with time. Once comfortable, she enjoys playful moments like chase and fetch! Together, Lyndon and Olly help create a balanced home environment that can suit both confident and more sensitive dogs. About: Growing up, I always had animals in my life and I can't imagine living without a pet. My Siberian Husky and Alaskan Malamute are so much more than pets—they're family. They're my constant companions, my greatest source of unconditional love and my best friends. Whether we're exploring new trails, enjoying quiet moments together or setting off on another adventure, they're always by my side. Life is simply better with them in it, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I’m currently working a f/t night shift job (early retirement in December 2026).
