About: I grew up taking care of animals, inclusive of dogs, cats and goats. I have an affinity with animals and truly enjoy spending time with them. In particular, dogs mean a great deal to me and because I do not have children, dogs have become the object of my love and care and have given that back to me. I have rescued a great deal of domestic and wild animals (raccoons, opossums and a number of birds). I regularly volunteer at the Quinte Humane Society as well. My most recent sits have included large properties in Prince Edward County and Marysville and surrounding areas, with both small dogs, large dogs and multiple pets. I have also taken care of an 80 acre goat farm in Owen Sound for three weeks, taking care of the house and grounds as well. I can also take care of your plants inside and out, garbage and recycling, and am open to other duties that can be discussed at the time of a meet and greet. I always have a meet and greet at least 2 weeks (whenever possible) before my sit, so you can feel comfortable with me, my two little dogs that come with me, and your pets can feel comfortable too! I am a traveler as well and know how important it is to leave one's pet in exceptional care when one is away. I will not only show love and affection to your pet; but as a teacher I value the safety, care and protection of other people's cherished possessions. I have two years experience dog walking, including rescue dogs, as well. Your dogs will be cared for and loved in your own home or in mine, if that is something you choose. I do have two small, (under 6 pounds) female Morkies who will be in my home or coming with me, so your pet will need to be okay in the company of two well behaved, but fun loving dogs. RATE BREAKDOWN: HOUSE/PET SITTING (in your home): $75/24 HOURS for 1st pet $25/24 HOURS for any additional pet PET BOARDING: $65/24 HOURS for 1st pet $35/24 HOURS for any additional pet PET DAYCARE: $50/8 HOURS (Times are flexible - Mon - Fri Only) I am retired I am very flexible in terms of hours/length of time that I can spend with your pet(s) and in your home. I am home often during the evenings and weekends, working on my latest novel and will, like your pet, need breaks to walk, exercise and play with them. I have had dogs all of my life and as a teacher, I am someone who prepares and proactively thinks about the safety and protection of my pets, and this would be the case with yours as well.

“Rachel was great with our dog, Henry! She and her husband are clearly experienced dog owners who knew how to be extremely loving with Henry while also keeping to the boundaries we outlined. They had no concerns about taking in a giant wolfhound whose head is at kitchen counter height. Henry is often anxious when left in a new place for the first time, and Rachel worked with us to get him to feel comfortable--we all hung out together for a while until Henry could tell this was a good place with people we trusted, and flopped down on their couch to bask in their skritches. Their little dog Chip also helped him feel welcome--once he got used to Henry's great size, he was happy to share his couch and his people and even offered to share his frisbee toy. Rachel updated us on how he was doing and sent great photos. We'll be very happy to have Henry stay there again.”

About: It all started with rabbits when I was a 4 year old. My dad bred them and we had well over 60 at one point. I had a pair of baby ducks when I was 8 years old. Then along came my budgie when I was 10. I have a lifelong experience of caring for many different types of pets. In the past I have had rabbits, ducks, a budgie, cockatiels, finches, rats, and aquariums. I took riding lessons as a teen and worked on the horse farm to pay for my lessons. I also have experience with exotic animals as I worked for a short time in a zoo. I have owned 5 dogs. A Husky (who lived to 15), an Australian Shepherd (who passed at age 12 from cancer), a sports mix - Border Collie/Staff/Russel (who passed at 14.5 from CHF), another Australian Shepherd (who passed at 11 from cancer), and I currently have a male Australian Shepherd. I work part time throughout the winter and have a tourism business during the summer. My work schedule is generally 4-6 hour days with a few off during the week. Your pet's care would fit in with my own pet's care. My dog is young and energetic and loves to play with other dogs. We hike most days in the woods surrounding the house. About: I was born and raised on a dairy farm in Prince Edward County, moved away to Alberta for 17 years after completing my agricultural diploma. I’ve been caring for animals since I was in diapers and have extensive knowledge of all sorts of animals! I have now returned to the family farm and am offering up my pet services! I have experience with all ages of animals. I’ve been breeding Olde Boston Bulldogs for 15 years now so am no stranger to puppies! I even offer livestock sitting! “Rachel was great with our dog, Henry! She and her husband are clearly experienced dog owners who knew how to be extremely loving with Henry while also keeping to the boundaries we outlined. They had no concerns about taking in a giant wolfhound whose head is at kitchen counter height. Henry is often anxious when left in a new place for the first time, and Rachel worked with us to get him to feel comfortable--we all hung out together for a while until Henry could tell this was a good place with people we trusted, and flopped down on their couch to bask in their skritches. Their little dog Chip also helped him feel welcome--once he got used to Henry's great size, he was happy to share his couch and his people and even offered to share his frisbee toy. Rachel updated us on how he was doing and sent great photos. We'll be very happy to have Henry stay there again.”

I would prefer to have a meet and greet for any dogs coming into my home. I do live in a large apartment,it does say I can host a single dog, but if they are from the same family/get along well (with a complimentary trial), I will be open to caring for them. I am a 5 minute walk from our beautiful and very large off leash dog park, with an enclosed area, and additional area for our friends that need a bit more attention. I have taken pet first aid, and a course in reactivity, but always learning. That being said, I have taken care of puppies, seniors, special needs, and everything in between. In my last position I administered shots, flee meds, and other medications. I would love to meet you and your furry friend, and available through email or text any time.
