“Dorothea was great and Ernie loved her! She walked him a few times a day and had him play in her yard which he loved. She also sent us photos and videos daily which we appreciated!”

“Carol, Luis and family were great with our old girl. They even took her for a ride to pick up their kids from school. Although our girl is house trained, she managed to have a few accidents in their house. Carol and Luis were so kind about it and told us not to worry, being in an unfamiliar house was likely the reason for it. Would absolutely book with them again if they’d have her. Thanks again Carol, Luis & family!”

“I had such a great experience leaving my dog, Cleo, with this amazing family over the weekend! From the moment I dropped her off, I could tell she was in good hands. They treated her like one of their own, and she spent the weekend running around and playing with their family dogs. They also made sure to keep me updated with photos, which was such a nice touch and really gave me peace of mind. Cleo looked so happy in every picture—tail wagging, big smiles, and clearly having the time of her life. When I picked her up, she was relaxed and content, which told me everything I needed to know. I’m so thankful for the loving care they provided and wouldn’t hesitate to book with them again”

“Mandy is fantastic. My dog Fergus was so well taken care of during his 15-day stay. When I dropped Fergus off at Mandy’s he had a sprained back leg. Mandy took great care of him and when I picked him up, he was all healed up. I highly recommend Mandy for your dog sitting and boarding needs. Thanks Mandy!”

About: Between my husband and I we have over 10 years of pet experience. Between growing up with animals and more recently fostering dogs, in addition to dog sitting for some friends we've had a wide variety of dogs in the house. I work part time which allows me the flexibility to spend lots of time with the dogs. I'm a morning person and enjoy getting up early to go for walks, and now that it's nice out I'm likely to be outside most of the day! We have a big fenced yard which is great for the dogs to run around and play. We also live in a quiet little town which is perfect for taking the dogs for walks with minimal distractions
“Anna was great, it was our first time using the app so we were nervous about leaving Kooper in another home but Anna sent lots of updates and photos throughout the weekend. She let me know that she was watching another dog and the two got along great.”

“Thanks so much again Pam for taking care of Lambros during our vacay. Even buying him boots so you could walk him and also using your baby boy's diaper when Lambros diaper was all consumed. Thank you for all the love for Lambros! We really appreciate it!”

“First time using Rover and happy to have had Evan watch Murphy for us. He was very responsive, accommodating and gave us some updates over the weekend which was great. Would definetly recommend and have him watch Murphy again.”

About: I’ve had pets my whole life, and shared the past 15 years every single day with my dogs. I wouldn’t change it for the world. I’m available most days and evenings with notice. Being a home body makes for great pet sitting. I live in a pet friendly condo that I own. My home consists of one small, elderly female dog and one young cat. I have many tropical plants; only pets who know boundaries with plants can be accommodated. There is no smoking or drinking here, as I like to maintain a quiet home. We have no children or frequent visitors. Pets are fed twice daily or as needed, and walked 3-4x per day based on needs. Bike rides offered for high energy dogs. I live close to a leash/ off leash dog park. I can offer basic grooming, training, and exercise as needed. I’m proficient with administering medication.
“Kylo loves staying with Nicole and Brock! They send lots of photos and keep us updated on what he’s up to. They are very patient, and Kylo settles right in to their home.”

“Our experience with Stacey was flawless. It was our first time boarding our dog, and it all came together last minute. Stacey replied super quickly and gave such a great first impression that we immediately felt comfortable sending our pup to her for three nights. You can tell right away how much she loves dogs and how experienced she is. She connected with Juniper instantly and treated her like her own. Stacey sent tons of photos and videos, so I got to see the adventures Juniper was having on her huge, fenced property and hanging out with a couple of new pup friends. I can’t compare her to other boarding places since this was our first time, but honestly, I feel like what she offers is truly wonderful. If you’re looking for a safe place where your dog will get to spend lots of time outdoors being active and then have a cozy dog bed to sleep on to recharge- then look no further. I’d recommend Stacey in a heartbeat- and will undoubtedly have Juniper go back to stay again.”

About: I have 15 years of experience living with and caring for cats, so I understand their behavior, routines, and how to keep them comfortable and stress-free. At the same time, my wife and I currently have a German Shepherd, so I also have hands-on experience with large, active dogs. I’m confident handling walks, feeding, and daily care, and I understand the importance of structure, safety, and attention. Pet owners can rely on me for responsible, consistent, and attentive care. I treat every pet with patience and respect. I work remotely from home, which means I’m available to stay with your pet throughout the day and provide constant care, attention, and supervision. I follow each pet’s routine closely and make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and not left alone. Flexible schedule and reliable presence guaranteed. I focus on creating a safe, clean, and low-stress environment for every pet. I carefully follow all instructions, routines, and any special care requirements. Working from home allows me to supervise pets throughout the day and respond quickly if needed. I have hands-on experience with both cats and large dogs, including my own German Shepherd in the past, so I’m confident handling different temperaments. Safety, consistency, and trust are my top priorities.
“This was my second time having my cat stay with Martine and her family. They did a fantastic job taking care of him and it sounded like he settled in very quickly. They treated him like a member of their family and he looked very happy and relaxed in the photos and when I came to pick him up. I definitely recommend them for boarding!”

“Marcus and Meghan and their children gave Saoirse such wonderful, loving care during her 3-week stay. She got lots of cuddles and was treated like one of the family. They sent us pictures and updates almost every day so we felt very comfortable knowing Saoirse was in good hands. We highly recommend them and will certainly use them again in the future.”

“Absolutely fantastical! I was in an emergency and autumn stepped up and helped me out. Absolute life saver. Sent me pics and videos of my lughead which she affectionately named meatball. He's definitely a meathead. Extended the duration when I wasnt sure what was happening with work. Without her I would have been S.O.L!!”

“Amanda went above and beyond in many different ways for our 7 month old puppy’s first time away from his family. She made sure to send many updates, videos, pictures and stories. She was very attentive to our pup and ensured she provided the best care possible. She spent much time learning about our pup, writing down notes, asking many questions and ensuring she understood everything that was needed and wanted. We will 100% be going with Amanda again for our next time away.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
