Our four-legged friends can even celebrate their birthdays with party hats and doggy ice cream sundaes for £6 a tail, while their human guests have a choice of no less than 28 craft beers on tap and plentiful pub grub for both carnivores and vegans. The OG on BrewDog’s Manchester circuit, it’s one of three venues flinging its doors open to dogs in this vibrant, pet-loving city.

Not only does Cottonopolis kill it in the food department, but it’s also one of the best bars in the Northern Quarter. And one of the most dog-friendly to boot, despite its upmarket status. Sup a picture-perfect cocktail or a pint of craft beer and tuck into some tuna sashimi or plant-based menu fare like crispy tofu baos, while your dog laps up the VIP treatment at this gem of a Japanese-infusion bar and restaurant.

Another dog-loving, beer paradise from BrewDog. For prosecco-loving owners, there’s also ‘Fizz Friday’ where you can get your bubble fix for £15 a bottle. And your pooch can be your lucky mascot on quiz night or your loyal assistant by day if you snap up one of the hotdesks on offer.

With its oh-so-scenic canal-side setting, The Wharf is heaven for both humans and dogs. Furry companions, big and small, will be welcomed in the bar area and beer garden where food and drinks are served all day. There’s even ‘doggy beer’ on tap outside (okay, it’s really water, but shhhh, don’t spoil the fun and tell Fido). It’s no surprise that this is one of our favourite dog-friendly pubs in Manchester.

Small dogs are welcome at Albert’s Schloss, a Bavarian-style restaurant-cum-bier palace until 7pm, before it gets too busy and loud for canine patrons. While pooches can expect bowls of water and a warm welcome from staff, owners can look forward to walls adorned with skis, an eclectic menu, and log fires in the middle of stone tables. If you don’t live in its neck of the woods, then it’s well worth a short trip out of the city centre to this retro neighbourhood bar in Chorlton. As the name suggests, it warmly welcomes those with four paws and their owners can enjoy frozen margaritas, seasonal beers including 15 keg lines and New York-style pizzas. There’s a happy hour every day between 4pm and 6pm, and round-the-clock on a Monday. Got a sweet tooth? Well, then there are ice cream sandwiches for afters. There’s little more you could want from a dog-friendly destination.
