Water Lane Boathouse is a lovely spot down by the canal in the city centre. Dogs are allowed throughout the whole premises, but it’s especially nice to take them down and sit outside on a sunny day (as long as it’s not too hot for your pooch, of course!). Dogs aren’t just welcome at this pub—they’re guests of honour. In fact, they have an Instagram account, Water Lane Doghouse, dedicated to cute snaps of their four-legged visitors.

The Lamb and Flag is a beautifully restored 19th-century pub just a frisbee-throw away from Penny Pocket and St John’s Parks.
