You only have to look at WEST on the Green’s Instagram account to see how many furry pub visitors grace its beer hall. This watering hole is dog-friendly, child-friendly and has some of the best tasting beer around. With a large space both inside and out that furry customers are invited to relax in, it’s a great place to settle in for a day of doggy fun.

Dog rules are proudly displayed on entry including its “3 barks and you’re out” policy with treats and water bowls a standard fixture. Owners are asked not to feed their pups on the premises but that doesn’t mean they can’t drool while you tuck into a Schnitzel or two. The fare here is German-themed with beer snacks for a lighter bite. For a before-bed frolic Glasgow Green is but a minute away.

2. Inn Deep

The next time your dog does a disappearing act, check for them at Inn Deep. So dog-friendly is this Glasgow establishment, that many a dog can be found hanging out here waiting for their owner. Familiar furry faces appear on its Dugs of Inn Deep page where you can also check out pet etiquette guidelines.

Dogs can look forward to plenty of free biscuits, free water and staff who love nothing more than a four-legged visitor. This, alongside tasty brews and pub grub delights, make it one of the happiest places in Glasgow for dogs and their humans. Tuck into a large plate, a small plate or something in between with your pet at your side, or dine alfresco. There’s a heated seating area and shade so no matter the weather, you’ll always be comfortable. For a breath of post-pub air, Kelvingrove Park is just a ball’s throw away.

BrewDog’s no-nonsense pub approach ensures they cater to the family pet nationwide, with a dog-friendly attitude every day of the week. But Glasgow’s BrewDog is particularly special. This West End bar offers treats galore plus pints to thirsty doggies (that’s “dog beer” made from beef stock to you and I). For humans, there’s the signature BrewDog mix of craft beer, beef patties, shakes and sweet potato fries. Yum! You’re also within walking distance of scenic Kelvingrove Park, for a post-lunch lollop.

Yes, you read that right, Glasgow’s centre has not one but two dog-friendly BrewDog watering holes. BrewDog are known for their dog-friendly attitude and pack of visiting canines. So what makes Glasgow’s BrewDog Doghouse different? We’d say it’s the city centre location paired with friendly staff who welcome dogs and their well-behaved owners in even their most busy periods.

Eat inside with your dog, where they’ll get their own water bowl and a selection of treats to scoff. While you get involved with the latest craft beer choices (it’s fine to try before you buy), your furry little mate will get hugs and kisses galore from staff and the locals. There are no areas where dogs aren’t allowed but the music can be loud in the evenings and weekends, so pick a quieter corner to protect their sensitive wee ears. There’s also a bespoke outdoor seating area to enjoy.

The Winged Ox at St Luke’s is open seven days a week and is well worth a visit from passing dogs and their owners. The food is eclectic and good for the soul. What’s more, doggy visitors have their own menu developed specially by the chef. Check out Instagram for their “dog of the day” which gives you an idea of just how many canine visitors venture here. You’re fine to eat with your dog on the bench next to you so take your time while you tuck into beer battered fish and chips or a club sandwich for dinner. Wash it all down with one of the “Ten Commandments,” a.k.a. their tasty cocktail menu. Water bowls are freely given out and there’s a great enclosed beer garden for outdoor fun. To walk off the booze and food, take a stroll across nearby Glasgow Green.

6. Cottiers

Address: 93-95 Hyndland Street, G11 5PU
Telephone: 0141 357 5825
Reservations: Optional

Recommended dish: Braised lamb shoulder

Cottiers is a versatile venue in Glasgow’s West End, as well known for its theatre and restaurant as it is for its dog-friendly bar. Pub dogs are welcome anytime, as long as they’re well-behaved, which means no barking and only doing their business where it can be picked up. It’s worth noting that dogs aren’t allowed in the Attic area upstairs but they are welcome in the theatre and main bar!

The fire is a great place to cosy up in front of in the winter, plus there’s a garden and terrace for eating outside and letting the fresh air ruffle your dog’s fur. Water bowls are as free-flowing as the beers are cold and in the summer, they offer an outdoor barbecue where a Sunday suckling pig can often be found roasting. There aren’t shaded areas but an umbrella can be popped up to keep canine visitors cool.

7. The 13th Note

Source: The 13th Note

Address: 50-60 King St, G1 5QT
Telephone: 0141 553 1638
Reservations: Optional
Price range: £
Recommended dish: Lebanese Bowl

The 13th Note is a hipster hotspot designed with Glasgow’s hottest hounds in mind. Dogs are firmly encouraged here, so expect water, biscuits and cuddles on arrival. The 13th note’s menu is fully meat-free, perfect for those vegan and vegetarian owners, although even the visiting carnivore is rumoured to be tempted into vegetarianism by their famous chips cut from Ayrshire tatties and red pepper kebabs. Upstairs, where you can dine with your dog, there’s free Wifi and a choice of tunes on the jukebox.

If you’re lucky, you’ll even spot the resident Lurcher lounging at the bar. Downstairs in the basement space is where the locals play, so it may get a little loud for your dog during the weekend. If you’re looking for somewhere for a mid-week pint, grab your pup and head to 13th Note—you won’t be disappointed.

8. The Bungo

Address: 17 -21 Nithsdale Rd, G41 2AL

Walkies at Queen’s Park wouldn’t be complete without a stop-off at The Bungo, located in the heart of Strathbungo. A gem in Glasgow’s vibrant Southside where furry customers are always welcome. Sit up at the bar where you can enjoy a pint while your dog gets a cool bowl of water. For the larger hound, the staff here will make sure you have plenty of room and you’ll often find multiple dogs intermingling with diners while you eat. Your dog will get a well-timed doggy treat while you tuck into seasonal, vegan and gluten-free menus which include items like pan-seared seabass or a vietnamese pho. For doggy-free dining, head into the main restaurant or to the unique downstairs venue where they hold special events.

Even smaller dogs will get a look in, when you grab a spot on the raised decking area that overlooks the fields. The beer garden does join a car park so keep your dog on the lead for extra safety.

This is just a handful of the great dog-friendly pubs Glasgow has to offer, but if you’re not sure whether a bar is dog-friendly it’s always worth calling, Tweeting, emailing, or just stopping by without your dog to ask if they’re welcome. Some places can also get quite busy in the evenings so if your dog would rather stay in, it doesn’t mean that you have to as well.
