When Sharla Wilson moved into a new apartment, she posted an apology letter on her door. Her elderly pug was getting lost in the new space and howling for her.

One of Sharla and Charleston’s neighbours snapped a photo of the charming note, which quickly went viral, logging almost half a million likes from fellow dog lovers. Universally, they were fine with little Charleston singing his feelings out as necessary.

The Letter

Hello, Neighbors!

My name is Charleston Chew and I’m very sorry for my howling.

I’m an old man now, with cataracts, and sometimes I get real scared because I can’t see where I am and can’t find my mom.

As I get used to my new place, I will start to settle down.

Thanks for being patient with me. I don’t mean to be such a pain.

Well, you asked for it. He smelled a dandelion he couldn’t locate and howls galore ensued… pic.twitter.com/8ACenw95G1

Charleston’s mom received some wonderful recognition from the community, including a limited-edition coffee blend from Curly Tail Coffee, and a Wyze Cam to track Charleston Chew. What a lucky little pug.
