Always wished your dog could accompany you when you pop out for a drink? Well, in these dog-friendly Birmingham bars they can! Whether you need a glass of wine after a long day at work or you fancy a catch up with friends over afternoon cocktails, bring your best bud along to join the fun. Your never know, your dog may even get the chance to slurp on a doggy beer or sip on some paw-secco (just make sure to keep them under control!).
1. Brewdog
Address: 81 John Bright St, Birmingham B1 1BL
As the name suggests, Brewdog is as dog-friendly as they come. Every branch across the UK welcomes doggos big and small, and the Birmingham branch is no exception. Your little mate will be spoiled with bowls of water, the occasional treat and, if it’s a special occasion, Brewdog will throw your dog their very own ‘pawty’. Four-legged ‘pawty’ guests are £5 a head (humans go free) and will get pawty hats, pup-cakes and even special doggy beer! And while your dog is entertaining their canine pals, you can choose from a huge variety of craft beers, ciders and a tasty food menu.
Brewdog takes their dog-friendliness to the next level by offering their staff ‘pawternity’ leave when they get a new puppy or adopt a rescue. Plus, employees are always encouraged to bring their dog with them to the bar – so your pooch might even get the chance to meet a new bar-buddy.
2. One Trick Pony Club

Address: 93 Alcester Rd, Birmingham B13 8DD
If you fancy a refreshing pint or a fruity cocktail to quench your thirst after walkies in Moseley Park, why not pop into the One Trick Pony Club with your dog. While your best pal cools down with a bowl of fresh water, you can choose from a selection of craft beers, ciders and cask ales, or try one of their special house cocktails like the Spiced Passion Fruit Punch or their Long Watermelon Margarita.
And if you’re peckish, there’s a tasty bar menu with chicken, burgers, salads, sharing plates, and some yummy British puds like sticky toffee pudding and bramley apple pie. On Tuesdays all burgers are 2 for 1 and on Wednesdays you can use all your (useless?) trivia knowledge at their Wings & Quiz night. So get some mates together, think of a dog-related team name and try to win some prizes! Even though there’s no doggy curfew at this bar, be aware that if it starts to get too busy, they will start turning dogs away. So it might be best (for you, and him) to avoid bringing Fido on Friday and Saturday nights.
3. Sorrento Lounge

Address: 91a Alcester Road, Moseley, Birmingham, B13 8DD
Whether you’ve got a Great Dane or a Miniature Schnauzer, your dog will be welcomed with open arms at Sorrento Lounge in Moseley. In fact, we’ve heard that they love dogs so much at this venue that they even makes sure their staff are dog lovers during the recruitment process! You can always be sure to find doggy biscuits behind the bar here and of course bowls of fresh water too. All they ask is that four-legged visitors don’t sit on the furniture, and that if your dog is getting a bit agitated and starts barking, you take him for a little walk and bring him back. And if the weather is agreeable, you can sit on the front terrace and watch the world go by.
The bar serves up some inventive cocktails, such as their Biscoffee Cheesecake, Popcorn Apple Barrel, and a Rhubarb and Ginger Bramble. If you order a Moose Mule, your purchase will plant a tree in Sumatra, Indonesia – making your evening tipple completely guilt free! And for anyone who’s not big on the booze, you can opt for tasty mocktails like a Watermelon Iced Tea or a Virgin Mango Colada. Bring your hound along and try them all!
4. The Rose Villa Tavern

Address: 172 Warstone Ln, Birmingham B18 6JW
In the heart of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, The Rose Villa Tavern is another dog-friendly location well-known for its delectable cocktails. And during happy hour, cocktails are 2 for £9 – we smell a bargain! Choose from classics like an Espresso Martini or try something new like a Candyfloss Old Fashioned. Meanwhile your dog will be kept happy with a fresh bowl of water and lots of fuss from the staff.
The bar also serves up some cracking American diner-style nosh, including a Sloppy Joe’s Chilli, Crispy Taco Salad and a Cheesy Geezer Burger. Plus an American Diner wouldn’t be complete without milkshakes, would it? Try Reese’s Peanut Butter, Daim or Hershey’s flavour and add a dash of liquor if you want a bit of a kick!
5. 1000 Trades

Address: 16 Frederick St, Birmingham B1 3HE
1000 trades is an artsy bar where you and your dog can enjoy a soundtrack specially created by Birmingham’s music community and peruse local artwork showcased throughout the building. Supported by their many canine visitors, the bar recently hosted a ‘Pup Crawl’ around the city called ‘Hair of the Dog’. Four-legged crawlers were treated to ‘paw-secco’, snacks, plenty of ‘paw-rizes’ and a limited-edition, dog-themed t-shirt for their owners.
As an independent freehouse, the bar is always changing up its drinks selection with award-winning local and regional beers, ciders and ales. Their wine list is made up of natural wines from small producers and suggests different bottles according to popular wines you may have tried before. For example, if you’re partial to a Pinot Grigio, they suggest trying a Friulano from a grower in Friuli, Italy. If that wasn’t enough, they also try to support small businesses with their soft drinks selection too.
The party scene isn’t for every dog, and unfortunately not all bars are quite so accommodating to our four-legged friends. If you can’t take your dog with you, Rover.com has lots of local dog sitters in Birmingham who’ll take care of your little mate so you enjoy your night on the town with peace of mind.
