I’m so grateful for Noah! As I approach 3 months with my rescue it’s astonishing to see the progress we have made! My pup was very vocal and reactive but now is significantly calmer! I love the progress!! Noah responds to my questions and quickly to messages and emails.

Just from the consultation alone we have seen a small improvement. My dog was engaging and doing things that she usually struggles with, it was surprising seeing how much she can improve in just an hour. Our dog is a rescue and struggles on many areas, Dresden has been positive and utilizes good strategies and positive reinforcement to ensure that my dog feels comfortable but learns at the same time. I will be rebooking and am looking forward to the progress that will be made!

Emily is a great dog trainer and we had a positive experience with her and lolli loved her. We worked on polite greetings in the home. With help from Emily she was able to stay calm in greeting situations, especially inside the house. We worked with Emily during one on one sessions as well as following through with provided homework to encourage appropriate behavior. Emily also helped us better manager her excited greetings by coming up with an exercise routine as well as enrichment. Lolli and I loved getting to work with Emily and it is fun seeing your dog succeed in training!

Interesting point of view on training. I am trying to put his suggestions into practice to see if it helps Jasmine is pretty well trained except when she gets over excited.

Shir is an absolutely incredible dog trainer, and working with her is life-changing! She truly cares about the whole family, not only your dog but also the humans. We started with Shir when our dog was a 7-month-old puppy and have completed dozens of sessions over the last three years. At the beginning, Shir helped us prioritize and work through challenges. We've applied her teachings to many scenarios throughout Nova's life. She's available via text between sessions, which helps SO much. With her help, Nova is a confident, well-mannered, almost 5-year-old. Thank you Another Chance Training!

Sidney was incredible with our cat, Benji. She met with us beforehand and was thoughtful, attentive, and genuinely caring. While we were away, she sent daily check-ins with photos that gave us total peace of mind. Benji needs medication, and Sidney handled it with great care and attention to detail. She was punctual, reliable, and communicative throughout. (We never had to worry for a moment). Sidney is someone we trust completely and would recommend without hesitation. Her professionalism and kindness made the difference for us.

When I got my dog pumpkin he would run up to people and bark. I couldn’t take him anywhere. He was an adult rescue dog. I got from the shelter. He was half German Shepherd half pitbull. About 80 pounds. I was nervous I was going to have to surrender him back, but I figured I’d give training a shot. I knew I wanted to focus on behavioral work and not obedience training or group classes. I was super happy I found Robyn and the results were almost immediate. I can now take pumpkin out in public and he can look at people calmly and then engages back with me. Highly HIGHLY recommend.

Frequently asked questions about Dog Training on Rover

To list on Rover, trainers must:

Pass a third-party background check

Show proof of education or certification in dog training

Commit to rewards-based training

Rewards-based training encourages dogs to offer desired behaviors by reinforcing the behavior with something the dog likes, including treats, play, or toys. Rewards-based training prioritizes using the least intrusive intervention; it promotes thinking rather than punishing mistakes.

When rewards are used, the likelihood the behavior is repeated increases. The positive connection to the reward results in making learning enjoyable, strengthens the human-animal bond and over time leads to consistent desired behaviors.

Training can happen many places — your home, a park, a store, or anywhere else that you and your trainer decide is best for the training you are doing! Many trainers will recommend training in your home. This allows them to observe your dog in their natural environment so they can effectively assess and best help reach your training goals.

Trainers will often mention on their profile where they typically hold training sessions, but you can always contact a trainer to learn more!

No problem! When you initially contact a trainer, you will be prompted to select a proposed first session date — this is not final, and is confirmed only if both parties decide to move forward. We also recommend contacting multiple trainers to make sure you find a trainer that is the right fit for you and your pet.

Of course! Having a trainer that is the right fit for both you and your pup is an important step to reaching your training goals. We recommend reaching out to any trainer that interests you. Your initial request is not final until both you and the trainer decide you want to move forward with booking.

Also, trainers may offer or require consultations. Make sure to ask trainers so you can make the best decision for you and your pet.

Many trainers on Rover indicate experience in a wide range of behaviors, from puppy training to more advanced behaviors and training types.

Review a trainer's profile to see if their experience aligns with your needs, and if you have questions, don't hesitate to contact them to ensure they're the right trainer for you and your pet.
