I am a seasonal freelance creature -- I'm a tour guide, educator, massage therapist, freediver, scuba diver, swim instructor, natural builder, artisan, and so much more -- and so sometimes I leave the country for a handful of weeks; otherwise I'm pretty much a homebody when I'm in town, enjoying down time, and always appreciative of animal company! I love combining housesits with pet sits as well as receiving animals into our home space.

If your furry (or feathered or scaled) friend comes to stay with me, you and I will talk about needs and expectations and I will strive to maintain their rhythm and schedule to what they're accustomed to. We have a fenced-in yard here and live in a chill residential neighborhood with sidewalks for leashed walks for doggos. If I am coming to your home space, we'd go over responsibilities and requirements and again I would strive to keep your animal friends' rhythms and routines to what they're accustomed to.

Information Victoria A. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know if your pet has any special needs or behaviors that I can account for. Same goes for any routines they have, so I can try to keep their rhythm as normal as possible.

A typical day

I'll ask you what your furry friend loves the most. If left up to our own devices, I am always down for a game of fetch, tug of war with a rope or a toy, a walk around the neighborhood, or a drive to go explore the nearby river. I personally prefer an open field to a dusty dog park (if given the option) for running around, but I will ONLY take a doggo to an open field if I get permission from their human and if the doggo is excellent on recall. I will absolutely take your pal to a dog park though, no problem!

Pet care experience

I grew up in a house full of animals -- two dogs, minimum two to four cats, minimum two ferrets, free flying cockatiels, parakeets, fish, lizards, and other feathered friends. I was the neighborhood pet-sitter and dog walker growing up as well; from age 12 onward I was taking care of others' animals and watering plants and gardens when neighbors would go on vacation. In university I studied kinesiology (the study of human movement) but got special permission from my course director to be able to perform my internships with animals instead of with humans. So as a part of my university criteria, I worked a year at an animal shelter socializing dogs and feral cats so they would become used to humans. I also worked as a professional dog walker for a company called A Walk in the Park while I was in university; then I worked a year as a veterinary assistant at age 22-23. I'm familiar with meds administration: oral, topical, and injections, and I'm attuned to animal behavior and communication. In my 20s, I worked a year in the amazon jungle in Bolivia at a wild animal rehabilitation center. I specifically worked with the felines and became the feline volunteer coordinator eventually. Working with big cats and walking them on a lead for a year definitely taught me how to handle walking big powerful dogs! I often volunteer at local shelters and/or foster animals when I live somewhere for long enough (2 months+). In addition to my awesome plant-watering skills, I've also taken care of people's entire gardens and orchards (in addition to their pets), while they've been away.

I highly recommend Victoria as a pet sitter. She is physically strong and capable, which is important for me with my big and strong dogs! She is very dependable with many years of hands-on experience caring for animals, including her own. Her professionalism and commitment to her work are evident in every interaction, and her success as a self-employed professional for several years speaks to her reliability and work ethic. She listens carefully to instructions, pays close attention to animal behavior, and consistently provides excellent care. Her time management skills are stellar, and communication is always prompt, clear, and professional. I have complete confidence in her ability to responsibly care for pets and handle any situation that may arise. Any pet owner would be fortunate to have her caring for their animals.

Victoria is an absolute delight as a pet caregiver. She took wonderful and loving care of our pets (our dog, Milo, and 2 cats). Victoria bonded immediately with Milo, and he enjoyed frequent walks, playing fetch, and, of course, lots of cuddles. Victoria was very responsible and attentive to our 21-year-old cat, making sure his needs for frequent small meals and a welcome lap were met! She also cared for our very shy cat, who was not afraid to make an appearance when Victoria was around. Victoria is extremely personable, very responsive in her communication, and reliable. In all, I highly recommend Victoria as a responsible and loving per caregiver.

I recommend Victoria to care for your pets without hesitation. She's cared for our home and cat -- and I'm always happy to welcome her back. I have a more relaxing trip knowing that Victoria is looking after things while we're gone. She's warm, kind, extremely self-sufficient, very tidy, responsible, and a delight to communicate with. Specifically, she offered (above and beyond!) to help when we received a wildfire evacuation notice the day before a sit was due to start. Fortunately, the fire was contained quickly, but I was so grateful for her care and kindness; it's one thing to be a great sitter under normal circumstances, but quite another to stay calm and reliable in a crisis. Highly, highly recommend.

We met Victoria as a house sitter, and we just LOVED her. She cared for our Shetland ponies, our goats, our dogs and our cat. She loved on them the entire time, and always sent the cutest pictures. She has come through for us last minute and we are forever grateful. She can be trusted, left our home spotless, and reached out if she had any questions. We highly recommend her!
