Pet care experience
Animals make me happy!
I've had loads of pet experience over the years, from early childhood to present day. I grew up in a rural setting where there were always animals around...farm animals such as chickens, pigs and turkeys. As for house pets, I've had MANY...several dogs over the years, too many cats to count, rabbits and hamsters. In my younger years I had a Poodle, a Samoyed, a Beagle and Cocker Spaniel. As for cats, well...let's just say our family was crazy for cats...I remember at one point in my youth, I had 10 at once! Later in life my husband and I had two Maincoons (Missy and Buster) who were literally the loves of our lives. We still miss them terribly and always think about them. In my 20s I worked at a pet store, where I also took care of the animals there (cats, dogs, hamsters, birds and fish). In my 30s I worked as a dog walker, which was very rewarding and so, so much fun. I would walk and care for three to six on any given day. I would pick them all up at each of their homes, each taking their preferred seat in my Jeep (the smallest one always insisting she sit in the front seat) and head out on our adventures for the day! These days I have several dogs in my orbit that belong to family members and friends. We have one in particular that we care for in our home periodically for our friends...Gordon the golden doodle, a.k.a. our nephew. All that being said I feel that I have a lot of experience and love to offer your fur babies, along with an endless supply of hugs, snuggles and kisses!

Treena and her husband took amazing care of Honey and Penelope while we were away for Christmas. They sent us lots of photos and updates and were extremely flexible when our flight home was cancelled. We can’t say enough good things about them! We highly recommend them to look after your animals.

I had a very positive experience with Treena taking care of my chocolate lab Dash. She was in touch by text and sent me photos while I was away. Dash was clearly well taken care of and even came home with a new toy. I would highly recommend Treena if you’re in need of someone to take care of your pet!

She is friendly, trustworthy and dependable exactly what you would want to have around your pets. She goes above and beyond to make my dog feel loved in her care. I highly recommend her.
I have known Treena for more than 20 years. She is a wonderful person who has always demonstrated a high degree of professionalism throughout her career and true love for animals. Having seen the care and love she displayed for her two cats over the years, I have no reservations leaving my dachshund Otis with her.
Always has been a very professional and responsible person whose love for animals goes back many years. Having been the proud parents to 2 beautiful cats.
Oh my goodness!! You could not have a better, more loving and caring individual to look after your pet!!! Treena absolutely loves dog and cats…more importantly, they love her! I’m not exaggerating when we say “we are so, so lucky that while we’re away, to have Treena as our caregiver for our dog Gordon”! The downside is he doesn’t want to come home! Not kidding. 🥰 The thought of our little man in a boarding environment kinda broke our hearts. He needs the constant attention and love that a only we, and of course, Treena can provide. Lots of walks and lots of love and a real affection for your pet is guaranteed! Rest easy when you have to leave your pet behind for a short time….you’ve found their second home!

Schedule
Halifax is my permanent home but commute out of province for work. I am home for roughly half of the month, days vary but on average I'm home anywhere from 13-18 days a month and usually anywhere from 6-13 days at a time. I do get my schedule one month in advance on the 25th of each month, at which point I would update my calendar.

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
I currently care for a friends dog periodically when they are away for a few days or sometimes longer. He has the run of the house, not crated and sleeps with us...not spoiled at all. We of course take him on walks and have play time...all the time.
A typical day
If they are OK socializing with other dogs, I like taking them somewhere off leash where they can play with other dogs and just be themselves. If they like to swim, we can do that as well. As for walks, it would either be on established trails or beach walks. At home, we normally play with any toys they may have.
