Pet care experience

Vet Assistant | Low-Stress Care

I’ve always had a passion for animals of all shapes and sizes, and have always had a few by my side. Over the past 10 years, I’ve worked with a wide range of species—from small exotics to giant breed dogs—in both home and clinical settings. I’m especially drawn to pets with behavioral or special care needs. I have hands-on experience working with fearful or shut-down dogs, feral and semi-feral cats, and animals in high-stress environments, including shelter animals, wildlife rehabilitation and a variety of veterinary clinic settings. My approach is patient, low-stress, and tailored to each individual animal. I have been a veterinary assistant for the past 8 years and am currently working toward becoming a veterinary technician. This background allows me to recognize subtle changes in health or behavior, safely handle more sensitive pets, and provide a higher level of attentive, informed care. For walks, I tailor each outing to your dog’s energy level and comfort, focusing on safe, structured exercise. For drop-in visits, I focus on more than just the basics. I prioritize maintaining your pet’s routine, reducing stress while you’re away, and making sure they’re not only cared for, but comfortable. I’m experienced with multi-pet households, oral medications, and providing calm, consistent handling for pets that may not do well with new people. For house sitting/pet sitting, I provide the same care as my drop in’s with longer stays to give your pets more time, attention, and consistency, but I do not offer overnight stays. I aim to provide the same level of care and attention I would expect for my own pets—reliable, observant, and tailored to their individual needs.

Safety, trust & environment

Outside of feeding, replacing water, walking/taking care of litter boxes, I like to stay for at least 30 minutes. If your kiddo is more anxious with me there I will limit the time I spend visiting. I get in as much snuggle and play time as they want in our time together,

Kai was a great sitter for our baby Pebble (cat)! We came back home after a 6ish day trip and everything felt even more in order than we had left it. Pebble had an upset stomach and Kai was great about communicating how he was doing and making sure Pebble was well cared for when he was here as well as recommending remedies and health care we could try when we got back from our trip. When our automatic litter box got jammed, Kai was proactive about noticing that and even replaced the whole litter bag for us. Offers great communication such as photos and a summary of how each visit went. We will be thrilled going forward to use Kai if we ever need to go out of town.

Kai is an incredibly reliable individual who treats every animal as if they were one of his own. His extensive veterinary knowledge and hands-on experience make him a strong advocate for your pet’s well-being, and he’s quick to notice even the most subtle signs of illness or pain. Additionally, his calm and gentle demeanor helps pets feel safe, relaxed, and well cared for while their families are away. Rest assured you'll have the peace of mind knowing your pets are in such capable and compassionate hands.

I have known Kai for many years and actually met him working in the animal profession. His love for animals is stronger than anyone I’ve ever met and he shows that dedication and compassion everyday, whether it be at work or with his own pet kids at home. If you’re looking for someone to watch your babies, Kai’s attentive and caring eye will keep you at ease while you’re away!

Let me know your pets personality, their play style, favorite snacks, and any behavioral concerns. I love working with nervous pets and adjusting the way I interact with pets based on their needs. I also request their primary veterinarians information and that you inform them that your pet will be in my care in case an emergency were to happen.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
