I have owned many dogs- big and small in my life. I’ve had several fish, a chinchilla, and most recently a cat, all who I have adored and cherished. I have loved animals since I was little and find them to be as therapeutic for me as I am for them.

Safety, trust & environment
Seeing my dogs face while walking him and playing with him brings me contentment and joy. I try to exercise him various times a day, by providing different toys. Even simple things like cleaning my cats litter box and getting her fresh water makes such a difference in our bond. I also take time to engage with my cat by presenting different toys and treats. Recently, I bought a small mesh tent for my cat and evidently, my dog ended up loving it too. This allows them to safely get fresh air without being tied to a leash. Ultimately, it’s about treating my pets with respect, compassion, and patience.

Schedule
Like I mentioned in my headline, pet care is self care; by caring for who I consider members of my family, I am caring for myself. Being in a pet care routine is as easy for me as a self care routine, because to me they are essentially the same. That makes me feel accomplished and rewarded in knowing my pets are happy.
