First thing in the morning the dogs get some time outside, after that they stay inside the house with full reign of the living room and kitchen. We both have full time jobs (sometimes I get to work from home) but my husband works very close to our house and often stops by for lunch and to let the dogs outside for a while. However, even when this is not possible the dogs are never left alone for more than 8-9 hours. After work our dogs get walked 2 miles, often stopping by Patoka Lake for a dip in the water. This is usually before dinner, unless it is too hot outside. Our dogs get fed after the walk and then it's a mix of couch cuddling and outside time before bed.

We have a spacious fenced in yard with a kiddie pool for the dogs during the summer. (Note, if your dog is an escape artist/digger we also have two tie ups that we can use since our fence is not chainlink.) While our dogs are very active and get walked 2 miles every day, we would work with you to determine your dogs activity need, whether that's a long walk, or just some time in the fenced in yard. Usually we let our dogs have free reign of the house during the day and they are kept in an extra bedroom at night. If your dog(s) are still prone to chewing on things, we would likely close them in the bedroom while we are out of the house to be safe. We have a gate up that keeps the dogs out of our office and away from our cat's food and litter box. We no longer crate our dogs but we do have one large adjustable size crate if needed.

IMPORTANT: Before any overnight boarding, I insist on a meet and greet to make sure your dogs get along ok with ours. Because we have a large fenced in yard with plenty of room to introducethe dogs to each other, we usually do this at our house, which will also allow you to see our place before boarding. We typically take our dogs on a 2 mile walk before or after dinner. Let us know if you think your dog can handle this level of activity, or if backyard time is enough. We have high tick activity in our area, so I highly recommend your dog(s) be on a tick treatment before arriving, particularly if you'd like them to join our dogs on walks, but they may also pick up ticks just in the backyard. I have a puppy rate listed but am pickier in accepting those reservations based on my schedule. Puppies that are not yet house trained will be kenneled any time we are out of the house and overnight. We have 1 large, adustable size crate.
A typical day
A typical day starts with morning potty time in the backyard. Dogs stay in the house while my husband and I are both at work, though if your dog prefers to stay outside all day that can be arranged too! Often, but not always, my husband stops by for lunch. Sometimes I also get to work from home. After work is when the fun starts, usually with a 2 mile walk on the Patoka Lake hunter access roads. The walk includes fields, forest, a creek, and even a dip in Patoka Lake when it's hot. (On weekends we sometimes do a longer walk, usually earlier in the day.) We usually walk our dogs off leash, but will work with you to determine the best set up and excercise needs for your dog(s). After walks our dog Scout also loves to play with toys in the backyard, or cool off in a kiddie pool. Once the dogs have cooled down from their walk it is dinner time. To make sure everyone eats their own food we will separate our dogs and visiting dogs for dinner, because somehow it is always more interesting to eat a "new" food, and we don't want any digestive problems!

Pet care experience
My husband and I both grew up with dogs, and a few years ago welcomed our own furbabies to the family. A cat named Buddy, and two hunting dogs that love running around outside almost as much as they love chilling on the couch. Because we often work our dogs off trail we have dealt with pet first aid and wound care, mostly caring for paw injuries and other cuts. If your dog is well behaved we are also able to give daily pill or topical medications.
Reviews

Emily took care of our puppy while we were in town for a family wedding. She was flexible, kind, and took great care of him. He had so much fun playing with her dogs and totally crashed when we got back to our hotel. I would definitely recommend Emily and will use her again if we are back in the area and need a pup sitter.

Emily did a great job taking care of our dogs. This was our first time leaving them for more than 1 night and I felt confident she was taking good care of them. I think they loved her fenced in back yard.
We feel confident that Bonnie is safe and cared for with Emily. Emily provides an environment in her home that Bonnie is familiar with. We especially appreciate the pictures Emily sends to let us know Bonnie is fine.
Emily was enthusiastic and welcoming to Bonnie (and us!) She sent pictures of Bonnie and a brief message which we really appreciated. Will definitely take Bonnie to Emily's house again.
