I work remotely as a Medical Qigong Therapist, which means my schedule is genuinely flexible and I'm home throughout the day — not popping in between a job and other commitments. Pet care fits naturally and completely into my daily routine. I can closely follow your pet's existing schedule for feeding, walks, medications, and rest without interruption. Your pets won't be left alone for long stretches, and I adapt to what they need rather than fitting them around a fixed schedule. I'm currently slow-traveling across the United States and available for house sitting and drop-in care in cities along my route. I typically stay in each location for days to weeks at a time, which makes me well suited to longer bookings. Message me to check if I'll be in your area — I'm happy to discuss timing and logistics.

Safety, trust & environment
Safety and consistency are at the center of how I work. In a client's home I follow all instructions carefully — routines, feeding schedules, medications, restricted areas, and any behavioral notes you share. I treat your home as my own: tidy, secure, and respected throughout the stay. My medical background means I'm genuinely prepared for situations that would stress out most sitters. If a pet shows signs of distress, a change in behavior, or a medical concern, I know how to assess the situation calmly, respond appropriately, and contact you and your vet with clear, accurate information rather than panic. I provide regular photo and video updates throughout every stay so you're never left wondering. I'm responsive to messages and believe in over-communicating rather than under — especially for first-time clients who don't yet know my style. For pets that are anxious about new people, I take introductions slowly and follow the animal's lead rather than pushing for immediate interaction. Most animals settle quickly with calm, predictable energy.
Information Brendan B. would like to know about your pet
It’s very helpful to know your pet’s routine, personality, and any medical or behavioral needs ahead of time. Please let me know about medications, dietary restrictions, anxiety triggers, reactivity, or anything that helps your pet feel more comfortable. I’m especially happy to care for pets with special needs, senior pets, or those requiring consistent routines. I do best with clear instructions and open communication so I can provide the most attentive care possible. My approach is flexible and patient, so I can adapt to a wide range of breeds, temperaments, and energy levels.
A typical day
A typical day is calm, structured, and centered around your pet’s normal routine. I usually start with feeding and a morning walk, followed by time for play, enrichment, or simply relaxed companionship. Because I work from home, I’m present throughout the day for additional walks, outdoor time, or check-ins depending on your pet’s needs. I incorporate light activity, mental stimulation, and quiet time so pets feel balanced and comfortable. In the evening, we wind down with another walk, feeding, and a relaxed environment so your pet can settle in feeling safe and cared for.

Pet care experience
I've been caring for animals for over 10 years and feel a genuine connection with them that goes beyond just following instructions. I'm calm, patient, and observant — qualities that animals respond to quickly, especially in pets that are anxious, shy, or used to a specific routine. What makes my care genuinely different is my background: I hold a biology degree and have medical school training, which means I'm not just comfortable with medications and special needs — I actually understand the underlying conditions. I know what to watch for, how to communicate clearly with your vet if something comes up, and how to stay calm under pressure. I have direct experience with: Administering oral, topical, and injected medications on schedule. Caring for senior pets and those with chronic conditions such as diabetes, arthritis, or kidney disease. Following detailed feeding protocols, restricted diets, and post-surgical care routines. Monitoring subtle behavioral and physical changes that can signal a health issue early. Handling anxious, reactive, or high-needs animals with calm, consistent energy. Beyond medical care, my hands-on animal experience spans a wide variety of animals including dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, gerbils, horses and farm animals. I also spent time assisting on an organic farm in Japan where regular garden care was part of everyday life. I ran an Airbnb for several years as well, which taught me how to care for someone's home with the same respect I'd give my own — something that matters a lot in house sitting situations. I have verified 5-star reviews on TrustedHouseSitters from real pet owners, which reflects the level of care and communication I bring to every booking. On Rover I'm building my paid care profile and bringing that same standard with me.
Reviews
Brendan is a top-notch pet caregiver. He has taken care of my 6-year-old beagle, Shuggie, since he was a weanling. Brendan is utterly responsible and has a quiet, stable presence that pets respond to by feeling safe and well cared-for. He loves to take walks, which is great, since my hunting dog can walk for hours without thinking twice! He also really seems to enjoy the different personalities of animals--meeting each pet individually and taking care of them according to their unique requirements. Brendan sends photos and videos while in charge, which is comforting--especially if he is doing an overnight gig. Brendan will also take care of your property while he is there. He is clean, neat and orderly, so you don't have to worry about coming home to a sinkful of dishes or an unkempt house. I cannot recommend Brendan highly enough and I am so happy to have found him to care for my beloved beagle.
I highly recommend Brendan for any pet care needs that you may have. He took care of my trio of cats for 3 weeks and bonded with each one of them. They all have unique personalities, and one is more aloof than the others. He took the time to get to know their "quirks" and can tell that they actually miss him! I was fortunate that he applied for my house/pet sit. His reviews on the trusted pet sitter platform were stellar and after a phone conversation, I knew he would be a great fit. I hope that I can snag Brendan again in the future! If you are looking for a person with good attention to detail, a laid back personality and the ability to connect to your pet(s), then he is your guy.
I have seen Brendan interact with the animals on my property, those being three dogs, a cat, several free range pasture pigs and a bunch of goats. I have also seen his care with some wild birds that nest in the eaves of his home, interactions with random pets met during walks in the neighborhood, and even insects he has ushered out of the house. He has a direct, decisive, kind, and gentle approach. Brendan has also stayed as a guest at my home where he proved to be quiet, respectful, and even left it cleaner than it was when he arrived. Our friendship has brought first-hand experience of his respectful and responsible nature including an equitable manner, even-keeled maturity, and the highest level of trustworthiness. I appreciate his many virtuous qualities, especially honesty and integrity, and I would leave him to care for not just my pets but humans as well. If I needed someone to watch my dogs, house-sit, or even to care for an elderly relative or child, Brendan would be the first person I would call.
