Pet care experience

Experienced Veterinary Technician

Hi! My name is Alex, and I've been working as a veterinary technician for over six years. Caring for animals has always been my passion, and I love providing pets with a safe, comfortable, and stress-free environment while their families are away. Because of my veterinary background, I'm experienced caring for pets with medical needs, including administering oral and topical medications, insulin and other injections, subcutaneous fluid therapy, and basic wound care when appropriate. Whether your pet is a playful puppy, a senior needing a little extra attention, or one with special medical needs, you can feel confident they'll receive knowledgeable and compassionate care. In addition to my veterinary experience, I hold a Master's in Business Administration with a concentration in Healthcare, giving me a strong appreciation for communication, organization, and dependable client service. I'll treat your pets as if they were my own and keep you updated with plenty of photos and messages throughout their stay. For boarding, I ask that dogs are either kennel trained or non-destructive when unsupervised. I have two large crates available in my home, so you don't need to provide one unless your dog is more comfortable with their own. My schedule also allows for flexibility—while I work as a veterinary technician 2–3 days each week, my husband works from home several days a week with an office just minutes from our home, allowing us to accommodate dogs that may need more frequent potty breaks. I look forward to meeting you and your furry family members and providing them with the same level of care and attention I'd want for my own pets!

Hello. Alex has lots and lots of experience providing loving care to our animals. She tends to the medical needs of our four dogs and 10 cats and makes sure they have ample food and clean water. I know better than anyone else that she is a responsible and loving animal caregiver. I am her mother. -- Melissa R.

Schedule

Pet care is already a central part of my daily life. I work 2–3 days each week as a veterinary technician, so caring for animals is both my career and my passion. On my days off, I'm home caring for my own pets, fostering animals in need when available, and providing attentive care for boarding and daycare pets. My schedule is intentionally kept flexible, and my husband works from home several days a week with an office just minutes from our house, allowing us to accommodate pets that need more frequent potty breaks or extra attention. Whether it's playtime, enrichment, medication administration, or simply providing a calm and loving environment, I make sure every pet in my care receives the individualized attention they deserve.

Safety, trust & environment

If your dog is staying in my home, they'll be treated like part of the family. I have a securely fenced yard for supervised outdoor play and potty breaks, and my own pets are friendly, social, and enjoy meeting new companions. Every pet has their own personality, so I take the time to help them settle in at their own pace. If your dog is kennel trained or prefers the security of a crate, I have two large kennels available to make them feel comfortable. As a veterinary technician with over six years of experience, I'm also comfortable caring for pets with medical needs, including administering medications, injections, subcutaneous fluids, and monitoring for any changes in behavior or health. My goal is to provide not only a fun stay but also a safe one. For walks and drop-in visits, your pet's safety is always my top priority. I always ensure dogs are securely leashed before opening any door or gate, and I pay close attention to their body language and comfort level throughout our time together. I enjoy getting to know each pet's unique routines, quirks, and preferences so I can provide care that feels familiar and low-stress. Whether I'm caring for your pet in my home or yours, I believe in building lasting relationships based on trust, communication, and compassion. I'll keep you updated with photos and messages, so you can relax knowing your furry family member is in experienced, loving hands.

Pets

A typical day

Every pet has a different idea of fun, and I love tailoring activities to match their personality and energy level! Whether your dog enjoys an exciting adventure or prefers a leisurely stroll with plenty of sniffing, I'll make sure they get the physical exercise and mental enrichment they need. At home, we have a securely fenced yard where dogs can safely run, play fetch, explore, or simply relax in the sunshine. I also live near a park that's perfect for neighborhood walks and getting some extra exercise. When the weather is comfortable, I enjoy taking dogs on scenic walks through the East Mountains or along the Rio Grande bosque. These outings provide a safe, enriching change of scenery with lots of new sights and smells to explore. Of course, I'll always make sure your dog is suited for these adventures and will only take them with your permission. For pets who prefer a quieter day, I'm just as happy spending time playing with toys, practicing basic training cues, offering puzzle toys or enrichment activities, or simply providing lots of affection and companionship. My goal is to make every pet feel happy, engaged, and loved while they're in my care.

The more I know about your pet ahead of time, the better I can provide care that's tailored to their individual needs! Please let me know about any medical conditions, medications, allergies, or other health concerns so I can ensure they're comfortable and safe during their stay. I also appreciate learning about your pet's personality, preferences, and any behavioral quirks. Whether they're reactive to other dogs, nervous around new people, have favorite toys or routines, or simply have unique habits, these details help me create a low-stress experience that feels familiar to them. Finally, please let me know about any dietary restrictions or food sensitivities, especially when it comes to treats. I always respect your pet's feeding routine and will only offer treats that you've approved. My goal is to provide the same level of care, consistency, and attention that your pet receives at home so they can feel happy, safe, and loved while you're away.
