asked a question Do any of you have phone conversations with potential clients?

I keep getting potential clients who want to talk to me even before setting up a Meet & Greet. Every time I give them my phone number I get a message from rover.com that it is okay to exchange phone numbers but to book through them. I have always booked through them and find the insinuation in the message quite insulting. I realize they make their money through our bookings but I think sending the message one time (the first time you give your number) should be sufficient. I can't help it if potential clients are more comfortable talking to me than sending texts back and forth. Have any of you experienced this?

answered a question How many hours do you consider to be a full day of doggie day care?

I think rover.com considers 9 hours as daycare. However, I know many people who work 10 hour days so I've decided that as long as it is less than 12 hours and does not involve having them overnight, I charge the daycare rate. I don't take dogs for walks because I have a good sized back yard where I take them out to play several times throughout the day. They expend enough energy doing that so they don't need to take a walk. You can add a dog walking rate into your price list and, if an owner requires you to walk their dog during daycare, you can advise them that rate would apply.

commented answer I have an EXTREMELY picky eater - any suggestions?

I live alone and no one else feeds him. The first year I stuck with one brand of dry food and tried both of the feeding methods you mentioned. Neither made a difference. I then tried making his food based on various recipes I found online. He does eat that a bit better but it is so expensive.

answered a question Are pet owners advised about our Quiet Hours if they submit a request during that time?

Here is the answer from Rover Support:
Owners do not receive any notification that you are in your "Quiet Hours." For an owner, a message sent at midnight operates just the same as a message sent at noon. For both text messages and emails, the time you receive it will be the only time stamp. You will not be able to clearly see what time the owner submitted the message. For notifications within the app, you will be able to see what time the owner submitted the message. I hope this clears things up! Please let me know if you have any other questions. Best, Erin Rover Support

asked a question Are pet owners advised about our Quiet Hours if they submit a request during that time?

Just wondering if pet owners receive some sort of notification from rover.com if they submit a request or send a message during my Quiet Hours (9 PM to 8 AM) so they understand why I don't answer right away. Also, if a request does come in during that time, does rover.com let me know the time the request was submitted?

asked a question How do I get to the payment history page on my rover account?

I know there is a payment history page for my rover account but I can't figure out how to get to it. Please advise.

answered a question How do I change date for my pet without cancelling the entire stay?

There should be and EDIT option beside each date. If an owner doesn't have the option, the sitter has. I have used it myself to change dates when an owner's plans changed between the original request and the booking. I have also used it to extend a stay for an owner who was unable to travel home due to bad weather.

commented answer Can I send a video to the dog owner?

How do you send the videos through the app?

answered a question Promo code?

Your sitter should have a code. It is part of the sitter registration. Let them know you are a first time Rover client and ask them for their code. It does not affect the amount they receive, but you get a discount. You use the code after the meet and greet and you are actually booking the stay with your sitter.

asked a question How do I arrange my profile photos?

I have uploaded photos in the order I want them to appear but they don't show that way. I deleted and uploaded them in reverse order - - still don't appear that way. How do I make my profile photos show in the order I want them to appear? I've never before used an application where I couldn't just click on a picture and move it where I wanted it.

asked a question Do any of you get requests where the owner is just trying to find someone to use in the future?

I have been getting many requests from people who just want to have a sitter they can turn to in the future - - I mean many months from now. The Meet & Greet goes really well and they say they definitely will book with me when they need my services but are "just looking" at this time.

answered a question What is the best way to tell a pet owner that you don't feel their pet is a good fit for you and you don't want to book the stay?

I haven't been a rover sitter for very long, but the one thing I look for in a Meet and Greet is if my dog gets along well with the dog(s) I would be caring for. If they don't settle down after the initial "get acquainted" rituals, I'm not comfortable accepting the request. At that point it is easy to decline because the owners can see there is tension between the dogs. Since I've had a variety of dogs throughout my life I am pretty confident in my ability to deal with different dog personalities/traits and haven't come across a situation where I've had to decline for that reason. If you meet a dog that makes you uncomfortable or you believe is too much for you to handle, then I agree with Jean: just tell the owner you don't think you are a good fit for their dog at this point in time. If you feel you must give a reason, tell the owners of a high-energy dog that you are more comfortable with laid-back dogs (or vice versa). Make a statement that is somewhat generic but puts the onus on you and not on their dog.

asked a question Can you show the date and time on messages in our Inbox?

It is not very helpful to have the messages just show "Today" or "1 day ago". A date and time stamp would come in very handy.
