How many hours do you consider to be a full day of doggie day care?

I agree with Deb, Jennifer and Connie for doggy daycare. I have a daycare that is dropped at 7am and picked up at 7pm. My pet parents are awesome and the dog is so easy to care for so I won't raise my rates on them. If I felt the pet parents were a bit of a problem or the dog needed more attention then I would. I did raise my rates on a customer that brings their pups to me when they go on vacation. I love their dogs but the pet parents try to take advantage.

Regarding overnight stays, I have repeat customers that drop off early a.m. and on date of pick up, do pick up afternoon to early evening. At M & G, I give my customers a detailed sheet of services I provide plus earliest drop/pick up and latest drop/pick up (7am-6pm). I also explain that an overnight is 24 hrs so if they drop at 7am they must pick up by 7am the date of pick up or an extra charge will apply. But, I have business travel customers that I waive the extra charge because sometimes they pick up the night b4 or hours earlier that the drop off time and sometimes later. For me it works out about the same.

I think rover.com considers 9 hours as daycare. However, I know many people who work 10 hour days so I've decided that as long as it is less than 12 hours and does not involve having them overnight, I charge the daycare rate. I don't take dogs for walks because I have a good sized back yard where I take them out to play several times throughout the day. They expend enough energy doing that so they don't need to take a walk. You can add a dog walking rate into your price list and, if an owner requires you to walk their dog during daycare, you can advise them that rate would apply.

On the services page, Rover defines day care as: "My client's dogs come to my home during the day, dropping off around 7-9am and picking up around 4-6pm." (which is basically 9 hours if it meant 7-4/8-5 /9-6). Based on the interpretation that day care is 9 hours, then approx. 4-5 hours may be half day care rate, if offered/subject to availability. At 10 hours, I think some would still offer the day care rate while others would book it as boarding, depending on how frequently that dog is booked. At 12 or more hours, I definitely think that qualifies for the boarding rate.
The care I provide, whether day care or overnight, always includes walks, at no additional rate.

I have a regular client, that has been coming for daycare 2-3 days a week. Their dog is quite high maintenance...Needs 100% supervision, cannot be crated and is a Barker. Recently, their schedule has changed ( they are both doctors) and they are now requiring 11-12 hours of care....Including a 6 AM drop off....Which is very, very early for us. I only charge $21 for daycare, which means, after Rovers cut...I'm making about $1 an hour. I'm not quite sure how to approach them, as I don't want to offend or lose them altogether ,but I feel like they are taking a bit advantage.
