He may also not have been taught that a crate is a good place, most dogs don't naturally take to being confined, they need to be trained to associate the crate with awesome things, like a kong stuffed with frozen canned food or peanut butter.

There are probably local resources for evaluating the dog, like animal control or a local shelter, but I'd definitely talk to support first.

I keep a treat pouch with me on all walks. It has regular treats in one half, and then freeze-dried turkey, hot dogs, and cheddar cheese in the other half. Whenever there's something a dog is nervous about, I try to do some basic desensitization with them by making paying attention to me instead result in super awesome treats. Michele makes a good point that you aren't going to cure them of it because you don't have long enough with a client, but I've found it at least reduces stress levels while they're with me, so I find it worth it even if it isn't permanent.

I've been a dog foster parent before. If you want to find a foster for Chevy, I would suggest posting your city and state. Find city-specific Facebook pages, Reddit subreddits, or Craigslist boards to post on too. There may be local rescues who could advise you as well. Be very clear on any ads about why he needs a foster home, the time frame, whether you will be covering his expenses or expect the foster to, and how often you want to visit.

You can add dog walking and cat sitting under your services & rates portion of your profile. For grooming, I would just add the price to your "My dog-sitting style" section, then edit the specific stay request to include that charge.

What do you do to show your clients that you care about their pets? I've tried things like thank you cards and little Christmas gifts. I'm curious about what you do for your clients.

For the results of the actual check, only you, First Advantage and Rover's background check review team have access to the check. As Laura said, owners can see the badge if you passed it, but they don't see any of your personal information.

There's an "extend a stay" button in your message in your inbox now! It's relatively new.

At this point, all you need to get approved is to request a testimonial, not receive one. We wanted to ensure that every step to approval was in the sitter's control.

Background checks are only required nationwide for traveling sitters at this time. A background check does connect to your credit report, but only to verify that your social security number is correct. It does not access your credit score.

Every background check result is evaluated on a case by case basis. In the case of a failed background check, we typically deactivate accounts pending a written statement about the infraction. From there, the case is evaluated by the team in charge of background checks.
