answered a question Is there discount for 1st time Rover users?

The dog sitter will have to provide you with that code, and I believe it cannot be messaged over the app because it's meant for reaching out to new clients. If you have a meet & greet with a sitter that's a good time to inquire about it, or ask for their business card (rover prints 100 free cards with that promo code on it). The promo code will be entered then at the time of payment once the stay is booked, and if it the code from that specific sitter you will receive $20 off your first stay, or if you book with another sitter but use that same code it will be $10. For instance, my code is PLAYFULPUPPY20 and I always give my business cards to clients during meet and greets and bring up the code to them if they are new to rover. Welcome to the site and I hope that helps!

commented answer How do you do House Sitting?

Most people in my area charge anywhere from $20-$40 for house sitting, and I understand having competitive pricing is normal, but I worry about being passed up if my rates are $20 higher than others around me, rather than $5 or so for walks and visits due to misunderstanding house sitting like I did

asked a question How do you do House Sitting?

I want to make sure I truly understand this specific offering on Rover. House sitting would be spending the night at the owners house with the animals, yes? Would that include additional drop in visit costs or so for working for the remainder of the day as well? How do you guys work with that?

I have a repeat guest who rather than book me for 4 drop in visits for 4 days (16 visits) at $15 (regular fee) a visit like we have done multiple times, she booked me for three house sitting visits at $30 (w/ $5 holiday fee) expecting the same work for all three days. Waiving the holiday fee to make the prices the same, that's $240 versus $75, and she wants the same amount of work done during the day as well but does not want to compensate me for it and does not seem to understand that when I explain it to her. Rather that being paid $15 per visit, she wants to pay me about $4.69 per visit and does not understand that. How do you guys handle that?

Also, out of curiosity, should I be given a negative review due to this, is there a way to fight it? I'm simply preparing for the worst, and I've been given multiple five star reviews by this client but if I'm to receive a poor one due to a pricing issue that I'm attempting to resolve and does not reflect how I work with her animals, am I able to refute that?

Thank you!

answered a question Has any potential client tried to swindle you by not listing all pets?

I've had this happen to me, and I wasn't aware of the fact that the family had four cats, fish, and guinea pigs that needed taken care of after the meet and greet as well (they were kept in the basement). Essentially you just have to realize that this is a business, and we need to make money as well. Most pet parents don't know that we only take home about 50% of what they charge (after 20% rover fees and ~30% taxes) so we need prices to accommodate that.

asked a question For tax purposes, are we small business owners or employees of Rover?

Since Rover sends us a W-9 it seems like we would be employees of the company, however I see many people filing as a small business owner. I can't seem to find the answer anywhere else on Rover, and don't want to misfile my taxes or need to pay more for the small business tax than necessary. Thank you.
