answered a question Is Rover.com making Rate Adjustments now??

See originally I thought that it was just Rover being able to switch back and forth from my normal rate to my holiday rate but recently I had a repeat client book with me that just had stayed the same amount of days with me 3 days ago and it originally sent the request at $35 rather than my original $38 rate for extended stays. Are they also adjusting rates to average you out with other sitters?

commented answer Ways to improve a falling ranking?

Thanks Amber! Thats a problem I have had too- A lot of my one time clients always promise to review but never end up following through... I will definitely make a harder push to get them :)

asked a question A way to leave feedback on clients so other sitters can see?

Does anyone know if there is a way (or something in the works to allow this) for sitters to review clients so other sitters in the case they are approached by that owner can see? Like tips and tricks on dealing with that dog/owner- or a way to warn in the case of a bad experience? I know clients are allowed to review us, but I think it would be beneficial to be able to do the same to help the sitter community...

asked a question Ways to improve a falling ranking?

Previously I was ranked between 2nd and 3rd in my zip code for Rover Sitters, and have been pretty busy booking visitors (currently 4 upcoming booked visits and 1 currently in progress). I have gotten all 5 star reviews, respond religiously within an hour of inquiries, send multiple photos to clients during stays, and book more than I archive- but unfortunately have fallen to about #12 for my area. Does anyone know of ways to improve this ranking? Or does the fact that I have a large number of upcoming bookings lower my ranking since I have less availablilty?

commented answer I'm scared to tell a dog owner, I no longer wish to sit their dog incase she reviews me badly. How do I tell her politely no?

Thanks for this Amber, I had this question as well- this was a BIG help!

answered a question Review for sitter cancellation

Hi Nelson,

You definitely should give a call to Rover's Customer Support line, I agree that the sitter should commit to whether or not they have to cancel and do so if the stay has been fully booked and executed by both parties. In that case Rover Customer Support would be able to help you find the right course of action and they would make sure you were then set up with a reliable sitter. I do agree with Karen R. in that you seem to have had a few bad luck incidents with sitters but that doesn't mean that all have that mind set. While I am biased since I am a sitter myself, I also came to find this service by being a pup parent needing someone to watch my dog Maverick- and have had amazing experiences on both sides of the Dog sitting. Hopefully this incident won't spoil your outlook on using Rover in the Future.

I can understand the frusteration of contacting sitters that appear available and then have them decline your request, one thing you have to keep in mind is that the summer time is an especially busy time with people going on vacations and needing dog sitting services, so sitters get multiple requests for the same time frames. Until an actual request is booked sitters are shown as available so it could have been a situation where they were already speaking with someone on a request for those dates. Obviously I can't speak directly for those sitters you interacted with, but personally in that case I make sure I let the owner know I am currently going through the Meet and Greet process with another potential client or that I already have a request for those dates but will keep them updated on the outcome.

Something you might want to look into and see if it is available in your area is the Rover Premier service- these are Rover Sitters that do not have a full time position elsewhere (a lot of the Rover Sitters I know use Dog Sitting as a supplement to their full time job) and Rover has fully vetted their applications, visited and approved their house, and will actually help you find a sitter that is right for you. I hope this helps!

Thanks, Meaghan

asked a question Archiving a Request- Impact on Search Rank

Lately I have gotten a lot of random requests to sit dogs that don't meet the criteria I have laid out on my profile- which has lead to me having to archive multiple requests in a row. Due to the fact I live in a studio in NYC it limits the size I can accept, also due to closer neighbors loud/anxious dogs with known separation anxiety aren't an option either. I have also been getting requests even when it shows I am unavailable which would add to this number of archives.

At what point do these requests negatively impact my search ranking? Its frusterating that the search criteria wouldn't weed me out as a possible sitter at least for large dog owners looking for a sitter and that it could impact a true business opportunity seeing my profile.

I have also had a few people reach out to me wanting to have a meet and greet and then upon the dogs meeting at my apartment they mention they don't really need a sitter for those dates, but just want to have a "back up sitter" available should their real one ever be busy... This request obviously gets archived because it was a bogus one, is there a way to make sure if I am archiving for those legitimate reasons that it won't impact my ranking?

asked a question Why is my pending payment less than (my rate- Rovers 15% cut?)

My rate is 29$ a night and I just booked a stay for 11 nights. But my pending payments only shows I am owed $222.06 when I should be getting $271.15? ( 29x11= 319; 319x.15=47.85; 319=271.15)

Please advise?
