commented question Has anyone had Rover email a client incorrect info?

Rover sends out generic emails on how to deal with general dog behavior. I can nearly guarantee that email was not specifically pointed at your client. For example I got one on the 20th that said "How you could be encouraging Lexi's bad behavior" (Lexi is my dog).

asked a question Dog Walking Client, damages carpet?

I have been walking this particular dog for about 2 months now and he's been absolutely perfect. He's not crated in his home and he is always just lounging around when I get there. However, today when I entered the home I saw that he basically ate a hole through their carpet near the kitchen. I notified the owner and asked if I should crate him (crating with this dog has never been discussed). She did not respond in a timely manner, so I left him out thinking if he was anxious in his crate, the lesser of the two evils would be damaged carpet instead of a damaged dog. When owner got back to me she was in disbelief that he did this damage.

No further conversation has occurred, and I'm doubting she is upset at me. However, I'd like to know how other sitters would handle this situation. Thanks!

commented answer Why don't I show up in the Mobile app?

I have plenty of spots available. Even when I view the map where it shows pinpoint of where each sitter is, the #1 guy for dog walking on my computer doesn't even show on the app.

commented answer Why don't I show up in the Mobile app?

I feel like this isn't true only because I'm logged in when I search on my computer.

asked a question Why don't I show up in the Mobile app?

On the computer when I search sitters, I am typically in the top 5 sitters in my zip code for dog sitting in home, drop-ins and dog walking. However, when I search from the mobile app, I don't appear at all. Neither do almost all of the top people I see when I search on my computer. What's the difference? Am I losing potential customers because of this?

commented answer Is your income limited based on a timeframe?

Thanks for the advice. I plan on making the flyer with tear off tags, I might hang it in my own apartment complex. I am interested in purchasing the door hangers.

asked a question Is your income limited based on a timeframe?

I'm getting dog walking requests left and right and to be honest, I love it. However, there are only so many dogs I can accommodate between 11-1 daily (well, 4 to be exact). I'd love to walk dogs all day but it doesn't seem there is any demand outside those hours. How do you increase your income if you're limited in this way?

asked a question How do you walk multiple dogs?

So say, to capitalize on time and with owners approval, you walk multiple dogs from the same neighborhood at the same time. How in the world do you collect them? Do you take stranger dogs into the house to collect the next dog? Thank you!

commented answer Keep getting requests for dates I'm not available..?

These have all been new prospective clients.

asked a question Keep getting requests for dates I'm not available..?

I've had to deny 3 house sitting requests in the last week for a week that I will be out of town in June. I have this in my calendar, yet I keep getting requests. Why is this happening?

answered a question Do you charge extra for housesitting when there are multiple dogs/animals?

I do. I charge only a few dollars per extra animal. Recently I've run into the issue of someone not wanting to pay for a cat fee, but asking me to "throw the cat some food and water, no litterbox." I'm not quite sure how to do that, since I offered to drop the cat fee down to only $2 a day (2 day stay).

asked a question Do reviews boost your ratings? Because I can't get people to do it!?

I have two repeat customers, which have been ongoing for a bit now and I can't get either of the to write me a review. They keep promising that they will but it doesn't happen. Can I offer a $5 discount or something if they leave me a review before their next booking?

Do the reviews help my ranking? Because if so, I'll try to entice them in any way to actually do it. They both are happy repeat customers, so I'm thinking it's just taking the time to write it that's holding them back.

asked a question What do you do with personal pets on overnight visits?

I have two dogs, one of which I am fine keeping at home with my fiance when I am at an overnight stay. However, my Chihuahua is attached at the hip and spends nearly 23 hours a day with me, it seems unfair to almost abandon her while I'm away. I am the utmost professional and I have no idea whether it's appropriate to ask if my dog can come with me. It seems like that would likely always be a huge NO!

commented question Extended Stay Additional Dogs?

Or should it be $26/per day for two dogs?

commented question Extended Stay Additional Dogs?

I have my rates as $25 for an overnight stay, with an additional dog being just $3. For extended stays I have my rate at $23 for any stay over 5 days. I have someone trying to book for 8 days for two dogs and it is charging her $23 per dog per day. Is that how most people do it?

edited question Extended Stay Additional Dogs?

My rates are:

25 Overnight 23 Extended Stay (5 Days+) 3 Per Additional Dog

I have a client looking to book 8 nights for two dogs. How would you expect it to be calculated?

Thanks!
