What do you do with personal pets on overnight visits?

I have two dogs, one of which I am fine keeping at home with my fiance when I am at an overnight stay. However, my Chihuahua is attached at the hip and spends nearly 23 hours a day with me, it seems unfair to almost abandon her while I'm away. I am the utmost professional and I have no idea whether it's appropriate to ask if my dog can come with me. It seems like that would likely always be a huge NO!

If you will bring your pet with you, I think the best way to handle it is to have that information included in your profile. Make sure potential clients know from the beginning that your Chihuahua is your 'assistant' and will accompany you on all overnight stays. Make a point of describing her personality and how good she is with other dogs, and include a sentence about giving your clients' pets the opportunity to have a play date right at home.

With all that information available at first glance, clients can make an informed choice on whether to hire you or not.

If you lose clients because of this policy you may need to make a decision about what is more important - having your sweetie with you or making money.

Just be sure to be up front and honest from the outset.
