commented answer What's the healthiest treat we can give our dogs?

I too like to give my dog frozen carrots- great for their teeth and gums. She also gets bell peppers, cucumbers, cauliflower, and broccoli. My dog gets sooo excited when I'm cooking ;)

commented answer Does anyone have safe tips for keeping a home smelling fresh?

I like to use the Bath and Body Works Wallflower plug ins. They help cover up the "kennel" smell a bit when you walk in the door.

commented answer How are you advertising your services?

Oh, okay, I did not think about that. Good point.

Thank you so much for the feedback! The flyer with tear offs is something I've considered too but have not put into reality yet. I think it's a good suggestion for sure. I love vistaprint! Used them for my wedding invitations, programs, and thank you cards. I think the post cards or flyers are great when you know someone has a dog. Are you thinking of putting them in the door or the mailbox? Thanks!

asked a question How are you advertising your services?

Hello all! I am wondering what you all do to advertise your dog sitting services. I am still waiting on my first client and have posted on facebook, craigslist, and nextdoor. I just got my set of business cards. I am wondering, how/where do you guys give them out that seems to work best? I would appreciate any suggestions at all!

Thanks :)

answered a question What is your technique for getting a dog to walk better on a leash?

I've found a head collar like the gentle leader works best. The dog cannot pull you with one. It works the same as horses. When the dog tries to pull ahead, you can do a slight pull (just to get her attention, no force) and a noise to get her attention. Then give less leash. Sometimes if this does not work, making her sit for a minute til she calms down helps. When the dog successfully is walking how she should, there should be no tension on the leash at all. The dog should not walk in front of you, as that gives her the impression that she is the protector. You should always be the leader. That will also help the dog not get so excited and jumpy because she knows you are looking out for her.

commented answer How long did it take for you to get your first client?

Thank you for your feedback. I was thinking I would snap a photo of the dog park when the snow and ice clears up. We just had a winter storm over here. I am trying to keep my prices the lowest. I realize I might not really make a big profit off the bat, but it will help me get some good reviews anyway I hope.

asked a question How long did it take for you to get your first client?

Hello all! I am a new sitter and was just approved a few days ago. I have jumped on this and shared my code/advertisement on a few local facebook dog pages, Nextdoor, Craigslist (although it was flagged so not sure what's up with that). I am also waiting on my new business cards. So very excited to get started sitting! I can't wait to be around new dog friends. Just wondering how long it took for you guys to get people interested in you and what works best. I would also be open and appreciative to any feedback regarding my profile as well as tips on how to gain new clients.

Thanks!!
